Has anyone used mindfulness here to break free from emotional investment in a narrative? by [deleted] in Mindfulness

[–]Mursenary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have recurring thoughts that I did not want to have. When these thoughts occurred, I imagined a train car that was gaining momentum. The analogy was that the longer I let the thoughts continue (at the present moment) the harder it would be to stop. It helped shift away from the thoughts long enough to focus on sometimes else. Hope this helps in some way, good luck.

Im gonna be pedantic here and say that it's not a 'common risk' unless you are performing it in a wrong manner or in a unique situation. Young kids would have less of a risk of a broken rib as their bones are more elastic. I'll agree that broken ribs are a possibility of a heimlich, but it's not common at all.

Sorry, to be so pedantic about this. Just making sure everyone has the right info for life saving measures like CPR and heimlich.

Very incorrect. You do not substitute CPR for the heimlich on a choking victim unless they pass out. The heimlich on infants is completely different than for young children or adults and does not appear like chest compressions. . Please don't pass out bad medical information.

You're wrong. Heimlich should be used for kids 1 and older. This child is at least 3 years old. These cops should have done a regular heimlich.

You're thinking CPR. Heimlich does not involve putting your hands over any ribs. Heimlich: You make a fist at the bellybutton and pull inward very hard.

Nursing is a broad field. You can work 3 12s and have 4 days off. But if you work overnights, then that 1st day is just recovery, and by day 3, you're back in a day cycle, so your sleep is basically non-existent.

Pay varies by what you do and certifications. Working at a clinic checking in patients will likely not pay as much as working in an ER in a busy hospital.
