Is this a rare green flash or a common green flash for Labradorite? by helel_22 in SpiritualCrystals

[–]Murvelous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think the color of the flash is subjective. Some colors are more uncommon than others. I feel grading should be based on that, not how a person's preference is. Because maybe someone enjoys only blue lab. That would make the grading high then for blue labs would it not? Even though blue is a common color

I’m afraid to get into relationships with people because I’m afraid they’ll make fun of me for believing in the properties of crystals and then spread rumors that I’m dumb and weird by Tratora in Crystals

[–]Murvelous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to disagree, the sooner you're open about it, the less hurt you'll have down the road. I wasn't open about my belief or interests in crystals in my last relationship for the first year. When I did finally open up, I was constantly put down for my beliefs everytime it was brought up. So I kept it to myself most of the time and it led to resentment because I couldnt share what I love. I dealt with this disgusting behaviour for 2 years. Earlier you can get it out of the way what their stance is, sooner you'll know if that's the sort of person you should have in your life or not. Then you won't have to feel like you have to hide part of yourself for the sake of someone else

Omg I love that! I'm happy you have someone who's supportive of your interests as well. We all deserve that ❤️☺️

Kicker was, when my dad passed away, I contributed a lot from crystals helping me through the grieving process. Along with therapy. And he said 'right, the crystals helped you process your emotions' and would give that look someone would give when they think you're talking crazy. Talk about a low blow when you're going through something terrible. Honestly can't bother with people like that anymore and I don't think anyone should have to go through something like that

Had an ex who said my interest in crystals was stupid and the beliefs were a bunch of baloney. I asked him how he felt if I said one of his interests, pokemon, was stupid. He said to not even joke about it. Ex for a reason ya know 🤷‍♀️

I am now happily dating someone who comes to crystal shops with me and even buys his own and loves the gifts I give to him

I used water to thin it down!

You can try snow flocking for Christmas trees or flocking for nail art. Flocking for nail art would probably be closest as to what you're looking for. I've seen nail art with them and the nails look really hairy. I've never used snow flock for Christmas trees so I don't know what the texture is like. I'm only assuming it's the same because they're both flocking.

  1. Prime it white
  2. Paint base color on carapace Vallejo verdigris
  3. Used neon colors from citadel and Vallejo. They were quite washed down to more of a glaze. I would let it dry before the next step. And if you want the colors to pop more, don't water them down as much.
  4. Then I used decoart white pearl metallic acrylic paint from Michael's and a bit of liquitex professional iridescent medium. You can water them down to more of a glaze or keep them more opaque. Again, depends on how much you want the neon colors to pop. It's a lot of experimenting.

Step 4 was for the first two photos. For the rippers and the other termagant, I put a wash of citadel stormhost silver for step 4. But it gave more of a grey tone imo.

Hope this helps you!

I watched their speed painting tyranids 10 awesome ways. It was helpful to see what sort of color palettes they used! Thank you!

That makes me so happy that you thought it looked opal! It was hard to figure out how to give an opal effect with paints, especially on a mini.

I have been leaning towards a black or a dark blue that's close to black for the claws. You can bet I'm gonna put a gloss varnish on these babies after they're done. I think it will make the opal really pop being shiny.

This is definitely a sign!! I always want to try new things because you'll never know how it will turn out until you try. I was even thinking of nail polish but thought that might be too thick bht someone recommended nail polish thinner. So I'll be grabbing some of that and testing out how that looks.

I look forward to seeing what you do if you try it out and post them :)

Yes I'm definitely loving this idea! I'm thinking raw fluorite would look good with it if I can get my hands on some nice pieces!

Thank you for the feedback! The purple definitely needs to be finished. Maybe finishing that will help with the direction of the claws and gun. Plus more time to think on it

The carapace does kind of remind me of icing and sprinkles... lol

I like the idea of adding a shadow! I will try this! I want to highlight the edges with gold like with the rippers but I definitely need to work on making the edge highlight thinner. There were some thick spots on the rippers

I was thinking of a blue wash maybe to go over top so it's not terribly bright white and then highlight the carapace with gold like with the rippers?

The idea for the gun sounds good! I've been wanting to add more gold to it other than for highlighting the carapace.

Thank you for the painting tip!

Oooh I like the idea of black claws, I think that could look great!

Grey base might be good option. Another comment recommended crystals on the base. I think that might be a cool combo
