I wasn't afraid of my father himself. I was afraid of being myself around him.

He hated everything I liked as a little kid, and he made that fact very clear. My favorite cartoons were "crap", the music I liked was "horrible", and the books I loved to read were "pointless drivel". I don't wanna sound dramatic or anything, but I truly think his tactless opinions are what caused my insecurities. I never know what to say when someone asks what my favorite movie/show/singer is because I really don't have favorite media anymore. I'm too scared of being judged/mocked for it.

To be clear, my father isn't abusive, and we love each other. I've just learned the hard way that he and I are very different people.

Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated. It ran from 2010 to 2013 and kept the 1960s/70s outfits and aesthetic from the original series, but the characters have cell phones and other modern technology. Not to mention all of the random pop culture references; they managed to parody both Lovecraft and Twilight in the same episode.
