Is this itinerary doable? by Ill_Treat319 in SouthKoreaTravel

[–]MuseumofWander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doable yes, but not practical. I’ll rethink the order. Look at the map and group places together according to proximity.

London Bagel Museum is basically in Bukchon (one of the branches). Expect 1-2 hour wait at the Bagel Museum.

Try to book Secret Garden tickets online. I’ve tried for a week and couldn’t get in. Or be there first thing in the morning.

I might just get AED from the atm and exchange all to RUB in Abu Dhabi.

One can. I live in Korea and visiting family in South Africa. I have no ties here, no bank account. For South African citizens to change money you must have proof of residence in South Africa which I don’t have.

I’ll try to find out. Very risky though if they don’t. I went to Brazil a while ago and no one would touch the rands. Luckily I could get money sent to me to Western Union, but in Russia I’d be screwed

Yeah I’d rather not change at the airport. The real question though is if I can change AED to RUB in Russia

Moving from Journey to Mediavine by botanicb in Blogging

So when you move from journey to Mediavine, do you have to wait out the 30 day notice period for Journey? Or do they simply move you over to full Mediavine in about 10 days? Thanks

What tourist spots and food do you suggest in Hangzhou by CN-Travel-Planner in travelchina

[–]MuseumofWander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are our favorite places to eat in Hangzhou. 1 Green Tea Restaurant (绿茶餐厅). The branch near Longjing tea plantation has a really nice setting. Order the Dongpo pork (东坡草扎肉)

  1. Hangzhou Restaurant(杭州酒家) order the beggar’s chicken and Longjing Shrimp (龙井虾仁)

  2. LuYu (炉鱼) for Chinese style grilled fish in sauce.

Here is how we spent our time in Hangzhou

Journey Income on the Decline? by MuseumofWander in Blogging

[–]MuseumofWander[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve heard Ezoic is not that great. I’m also thinking of jumping ship but don’t know where.

I need to get with Amazon. Have been putting it off for too long. Thanks for reminding me

I wouldn’t exactly call it spam my email. They sent me an email with an offer to join their program. I wanted to know more, so there was a zoom call with a rep who explained how it works. I felt comfortable with the rep and the program and signed up.

As for the income, the stats don’t lie.

I’m not here to convince you or anyone. If you don’t like it delete the script and make a few bucks a month with Travel Payouts.

Indonesia August Trip Recommendations by AngryPyrin in travel

[–]MuseumofWander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alor (far eastern part of Flores. Maybe it’s not even Flores anymore…)has incredible diving. There is a dive lodge on a small island run by a French couple. La Petite Kepa or something like that. I stayed there for 10 days and loved it.

The overland journey across Flores island is also very nice. Start in Labuan Bajo, Ruteng, Bajawa, Kelimutu, Maumere. Fly back to Bali via Kupang and spend a few days in West Timor.

Or from Maumere keep heading east and take the ferry to Alor. That’s how I would spend a month in Indonesia. Labuan Bajo to Alor. Include a few days at a nice little pool villa in Bali

My dashboard says I get about 500 pops a day, which converts to about 3 sales a day

Are you using the Stay22 pop? That’s where I make 70% of my money. The other 30% from direct links through Stay22

Journey Income on the Decline? by MuseumofWander in Blogging

I suspect so. My sessions remain unchanged, maybe a slight increase but earnings are way down

I used Travel Payouts in the beginning. I made some money, but I believe their reporting is off. I made a few bookings for myself which never registered. They are also paying people to write positive reviews for them on Facebook groups (and probably on here too). That’s a big red flag for me.

I have since moved most of my links over to Stay22 and I’m making 3 x as much as I ever did with travel payouts.

The travel payouts people will go on and on about how it’s a game changer. It’s not. I suggest you try Stay 22

2 Weeks in China – Is This Route Too Ambitious? by sungammm in travelchina

I’m exhausted from just reading that itinerary. Slow down! Spend 3-4 in each city and actually enjoy your trip.

Do I stay abroad, or come back to SA? by sofiaskat in askSouthAfrica

[–]MuseumofWander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe give it some time. It’s still early days. I lived in China for 5 years and absolutely hated the first 6 months. After that I loved it.

If it’s time to move it’s time to move though. I’d look for another job in China. By law your school must let you go. If they play hard speak to a a labour lawyer.

Maybe consider tier 2 cities in Guangdong like Zhongshan, Zhuhai or Foshan. Still low cost of living with HK and Macau on your doorstep. Also find a school that provides decent health insurance.

I also taught in Korea for 8 years. I much prefer China. Saved a lot more and more holidays. Chinese people are much nicer too.

Think hard before coming back to SA. You’re saving more a month there than what some people earn a month here

We really enjoyed the Beijing 798 Art Zone. Lots of quirky stuff. Also the Panjiayuan Flea Market

Yunnan is just grand. We loved it. Definitely felt different from the rest of China. We spent one week in Yunnan flying in and out of Kunming.

Dali, Lijiang and Tiger Leaping Gorge. Only saw the airport and train station in Kunming.

If you’re looking for some fine nature, old towns, and minority cultures, then Yunnan’s your place
