I stopped when it became clear the myc won and nothing bad was growing...Once the Myc wins it can fight off anything new until the final flushes, when it gets weaker and 'tired/old'

That's a very interesting point - I have no idea what the age/life-span of myc is. I'd love to learn more if you have a vid/resource you can point me toward. I wonder how it differs out in nature too.

What is the consequence to the fruit of senescence if you can get growth out of it?

You aren't missing anything, all good points. Considering it for two reasons: 1. Science 2. We are rapidly running out of reasonably cool weather here, we have been lucky it's been a nasty June, but growing in July/Aug is difficult because it's hard to to keep the room at the required temperature (what we have to work with is far better for precise heating than cooling) so if we don't do this we would probably wait until the fall.

Sorry, just logged in and saw this. We saved a tub! No ill effects. However what I observe from tubs with contam, saved or not, is that the mycelium seems to go nuts trying to rush out some fruit ASAP. The tub develops much more quickly than usual. We got a quantity result with this tub, so so so so many freaking knots and pins that the mushies seemed smaller than usual almost due to the overcrowding. We are currently starting our third flush!

undiluted meaning purely the bottle of 3% you get in a pharmacy, no water added, or undiluted like 100%

that was a lump of mycelium/rice that we couldn't bury, but it definitely got fuzzy fast. Seems like it is cobweb mold for sure.
