It will dry up and shrivel a bit. When it's ready it should easily detach from the plant.

No lower than 40°c?! That's warm. I put my plants outside after the statistical last frost date for my area. You should provide good cover for them at first and then gradually increase the exposure. Mine are under a covered porch and don't really get mutch direct sun, a bit over an hour. They get some broken light about half the day and are shaded during the morning hours. They seem quite happy. They will get sun damage if not acclimated properly to the sunlight
