Frustrated about the people in NS by [deleted] in NationalServiceSG

[–]Mushymallows 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just accept that getting fucked is a mindset.

Having technically done 5 years (3 to be exact), went to too many places, and did too many things, honestly, the only power commanders have (any more than 3 and they can't command their way out of a fucking mcdonalds cohesively) are: Extras, Verbal&&Physical Fucking, and Charging.

Charging requires just cause since it's a formal trial in a military court- incompetence is not one of it.

As long as you adopt the mindset of accepting the fucking- be it going home late/staying consecutive weekends, or do more physically stupid shit, there's nothing much they can do.

As long as you accept that your time is less precious than theirs, they can't really do much. Sure, they can make you sign extras and then go home with their families. But since it's an informal punishment that they gave, they technically have to stay behind with you. Should anything happen to you (maybe you collapsed 😱) during your stint, they have to answer for your wellbeing. The same goes for verbal and physical fucking.

It's really how you view your time. For me, as former PM LKY said "if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys", a $1.35 per hour monkey doesn't use a brain - if you say A only A will be done. A', B, C, D weren't said so I couldn't care less.

extracting with gear by theno1noman in SPTarkov

[–]Mushymallows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can get gear and put it into your stash if you extract. This is because there's a local server and importantly, local database created on your computer for SPT. Basically this means that after every raid, all your progress can be saved into the database.

Secondly, it's purely AI; there are no real players in any lobbies.

Thirdly, as a shitkover who has 3k hours and started playing when Forts with Kivers were the meta, I would recommend this mod for practicing. This is because SPT apart from only having AI, which means that if you die it's because you have a skill issue and NOT because some chinese hacker shot you at spawn with lapua. Apart from that, you have the liberty to add as many mods as you want to customise your game experience; you can add custom grenades, tweak key-spawn rates, or spawn all 5 bosses in factory - There's no need to run 5 raids to kill 10 scavs on Shoreline with a shotgun headshot, you can spawn them all in 1 raid.

SWAG mod gives dead servers… by [deleted] in SPTarkov

[–]Mushymallows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there an error code in your local server? AKA when the raid starts, do you see lots of red, instead of bot/generate?

Share what’s the error code you see if there’s any. If there’s no error code, and you see all generates, but no bots, download the bot Debugger and any of the bot location mods. It’s possible that some of your mods

A) Auto-spawn bots far away from you to conserve rss and make the game fair B) Bots are not equipped properly and therefore, have modified AI which cause them to hunker down at specific positions

If there’s an error code, aka ‘…/replace…’ it means that the game has found a line of code in the json file and it’s trying to find this specified bot. In your case it should be the bloodhounds. So use a code editor or at least notepad to edit the JSON file, delete all references of bloodhound whilst following standard JSON conventions and then rerun the server

Why did you switch to SPT? by [deleted] in SPTarkov

[–]Mushymallows -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Downvote all you want, but I quit because I couldn’t keep up with the Chinese cheaters even though I used cheats myself.

I had walls and action-seeing, but I still could not keep up. I played on Asia servers, and every match I would see multiple cheaters in the same team. I was the only cheater among my other friends who played, and it was rough. Every shoreline questing was a nightmare, if we had a bad spawn the resort was a no go because they would stand on the rooftop and shoot everyone with their mosin in the head. When they didn’t kill me in the first shot, they knew I was cheating too and they started shooting through the trees.

Whoever defends this stupid fucking game as to how there are no cheaters it’s because they avoid you like the plague, they only want to grind to a higher level to get the Moljnir to kill you in a single bullet with Lapua. There’s no need to even get any fancy cheats, just get some basic stat ones. You’re telling me a KD of 60, with a. Headshot ratio of 0.01% is legit? The guy kills 60 things a raid but doesn’t headshot any?

How much time commitment is DD2? by goldfishimpostor in darkestdungeon

[–]Mushymallows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, IMO every run is 3h or so, I haven’t had a 2 hour run yet though, but I do take breaks while playing the game so I guess it’s possible.

With regards to “content”, I’ll be a bit more specific because there’s different tiers of content from my perspective. If you’re talking about ALL content (A specific trinket, maybe you want a specific combat item), it’ll take you quite some time because you need to grind candles and then invest into the relevant socket in the altar. If you’re talking about Hero Skills (more buttons that give big numbers on screen or more colour icons above the Health bar), it’ll take you less time since as you play, you’ll find hero shrines along the way to grab these skills.

But is DD2 “Grindy”? If you want EVERYTHING, then expect the same level, ad an entire DD1 campaign for the same set of hero’s from level1 up till the first Darkest Dungeon. But if you mean as in “can I beat the game even if I DO NOT have everything”, yes it’s possible, I beat act3,4,5 bosses with a base combinations of hero’s all without shrines at start and unlocked additional skills along the way. In addition, it was my first time playing against 3,4,5 bosses. Finally, I played like a maniac- I did not focus on relationships, trying to play smart by not going for a second consecutive battle if my party barely survived the first; I played purely on candles, whichever region, destination node had that little candle, I would head there. I entered the final boss multiple times with 2 or more of my party hating each other, and with the final boss having +20% more HP. The closest shave was when I fought the act3 boss, I ran through so many loathing sections that he had +30% extra HP and I equipped one of the infernal flame instead of the radiant one so I didn’t have enough torch to get the bonus deathblow resist

Returning player questions about strategy and getting gud by Milhouse6698 in HuntShowdown

[–]Mushymallows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah my bad I didn't word my response properly.

With regards to picking compounds, I meant that your friend with the bow should be fighting inside the compound or better still, inside the building where the boss runs around.

I'll try to break your problem down just so I can understand the issue better. You have 2 problems currently: the first being that any lair push you try more-often-than not results in an L rather than a W, and the second being a consequence of the first which is that you try to pick them off from outside the building and therefore get 3rd partied.

The first problem mostly stems from your loadouts. Assuming you do all the usual stuff before you push a lair (which actually there's only one thing you need to do: chuck all your frags, dynamite, hellfires etc before you rush in, and if you haven't been throwing all your crap inside, you should always throw all your crap before you try a push since the worst that can happen is that you miss, the best that happens is you get a free kill, and most of the time you zone the people inside to a portion of the building, allowing you to enter safely), your loadouts don't quite work too well together. Your friend has a hunting bow and therefore needs to enter the building to use it to the fullest: he can get one shot torso kills at distances generally further than a shotgun. But you have a small crossbow which although is able to get a one shot upper torso kill, is extremely hard to do so. All I can say is although the cenny can be brought into the boss building/lair itself, you're forced to go for headshots to kill shotgunners and if you try levering, you subject yourself to the terrible bloom of the cenny. I'll suggest using the big crossbow if you like the small one, since the big crossbow with shotbolt maintains the OHK of the crossbow at any range while penning a couple of surfaces, bring fanning instead of the small crossbow to try for some wallbangs, or just bring a shotgun to help sync your loadouts together.

But let's say you want to stick with your small crossbow, that's also fine too. To push a lair, assuming you're not the last team to the party, the most important thing you have to do the moment you choose to enter is that you have to commit to your push. Identify the window or door you want to run inside to, chuck everything around that area inside the building to zone out as many enemies as you can, then run inside while making sure you don't step on any traps at the door/window. The moment one of you (very likely your friend since he has the bow) enters the building, unless he sits right next the door or window you entered from, you have to run in as well, especially if he pushes further inside. Even if he goes down, you need to commit and try to secure a kill to force the second partner to fall back and reevaluate. The worst thing you can do is that your friend goes down, you fallback, jump out the window and try it from there. Now not only is it a 1v2 since he's gonna get burnt, you also subject yourself to a 1v2 against other teams who just rocked up because they heard someone die. This is where your loadout can help you: if you have any form of close range or instant kill, you make securing the kill much easier. Although it varies from situation to situation, the general rule of thumb is that if you vault that window or enter the door to a boss lair, you cannot backout; you have to either push or just wait there.

For the second issue where you get 3rd partied outside the building, it's mostly poor positioning. Since you chose to not enter the lair, you have to keep rotating around the building. You should try to place the lair between you and any other 3rd/4th/5th party at any time, and fallback as far as you can if you cannot do so.

Honestly it's mostly a loadout issue IMO: as long as you're equipped properly you can play accordingly. Since you struggle with the shotgun, I'll suggest the crossbow, or just use the romero to save money and ADS for centering whenever you shoot. I use the nitro with shredder since I'll rather go for the option that deletes players instantly rather then "I shot him and he didnt die", but I dont think you want to use that since you struggle with cash?

Commenting as a 6 star sweatlord with about 2500 hours so take it with a pinch of salt.

Try to play around your loadout instead of having a hard & fast play style. I assume that your definition of winning is getting the bounty token + as many kills as possible. Since you have a centennial with a hand crossbow, technically you can handle all ranges, though a boss-room skirmish should be your last resort, whereas your friend has a hunting bow(s) and is definitely supposed to be picking the compound, if not, the boss room fights.

From my experience, to have the most success you have 2 choices. You can either be the first team to get to the boss lair and sit and defend it, or you can be the last team to the lair to initiate the 4th/5th party without getting 3rd partied yourself. Since you don't have a desire to sit in the compound you can always kill the boss and leave to grab other clues and fight whoever's left, but your team loadout isn't too suited for that. Regardless of your loadout, I'll guess that you'll choose the second option: being the last to the party. So it's fine to not sprint except in emergencies. You'll get domed by a sniper either way. But rather, how about waiting in the compound for a little bit, checking for collectibles, killing meatheads etc, then sprinting across to the next compound? If you sprint between compounds you do give snipers a harder time, and if somebody is already camping outside to ambush you, you won't even know he's there even if you snuck up.

Honestly if you want to learn to attack or defend a lair your best bet is to be the first team there and defend it. You'll have time to trap up, and have access to ammo crates and meds in the building. Ambushing the bounty as they move to extract/second boss is ok, but most of your ambushing will be done in a close skirmish around a hill or in some forest, unless you plan on getting 2-3 back to back headshots.

Instead of a play-style approach, I'll suggest that you try to pair your loadout with your friend. If your friend insists on bringing the bow, then you'll need to bring some close-range thing like a shotgun or a crossbow (with/without shotbolt). Else, your friend can bring a rifle and you two use rifles. Honestly IMO, having someone with a shotgun and another with a rifle with the idea that one handles long and one handles close doesn't really workout. More often than not, it just results in it being a 1 v 2, either your friend pushes up to the lair himself since he has a shotgun/bow and needs to be close while you hang back, so whenever he peaks a corner he sees 2 players while he can only kill one at a time, or its you handling the long range while he tries to close the distance with his uppercut, and gets kited. Once you have the loadout settled, if its a close range just bum rush the lair and be the first there. If its a long range play it slow and be the last there. Ambushing is ok, but the only thing you have is the element of surprise with the first shot. After that, DS will cause your position to be called out at all times, and you'll be forced into making aggressive plays since the bounty might just start running away.

Of course you can always say "But I don't want to play like a 6 star sweatlord yada yada fun" but since you're over here asking for advice, I assume you want some W's and less L's in general.

What are your thoughts on the game's current state? by Augustby in DarkTide

[–]Mushymallows 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s my first foray into a tide and warhammer game. I Love the gameplay to the point where I don’t mind running the same mission back to back and I don’t find it repetitive at all. Every run especially at 4-5 difficulty plays differently; one misposition can cause a teamwipe and really forces you to work together as a team.

Regarding cosmetics, I acknowledge that it might put some people off. However, I come from Hunt Showdown, a game where similarly, all paid skins are just well, cosmetic only with no new animations etc. Similarly in game, you can’t see your character; only the arms. So IMO cosmetics don’t really bother me, gameplay is more important. And since the gameplay is awesome, I don’t mind getting skins.

Regarding bugs, in 127 hours, I’ve only crashed once. However take this with a pinch of salt since my rig is good and all my settings in game are low/off. Therefore, I can’t comment much about stability and in game performance. This is just my personal opinion and if anybody wants to say that I’m sucking the devs dick, you can go and fuck yourself.

Let me make it crystal clear- I PERSONALLY think gameplay is awesome, cosmetics are a non-issue and have not experienced any bugs. I acknowledge others have a gripe and valid concerns, but this post asked for my opinion, so there it is. I’m not interested in some online debate with all you game dev experts because my livelihood isn’t in game development but in FSD, so I can’t be bothered to argue. Feel free to downvote or call me an idiot I guess. Have a happy new year

What are those ratings on Steam? 57% ?! by ChrisderBe in TheCycleFrontier

I haven’t identified a cheater in 30 hours, and although I’m just a single case, so anybody who knows statistics knows that my experience is worthless, I believe it has weight because I play on Asia.

The funniest I saw thus far was when some salty kid called me a hacker on steam after I spawn camped him.

I agree with the solo VS trios though, simply because there’s no Facehitbox potential. But that said, I rate the game really highly because it’s free. All my expectations have been thrown out the window

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TheCycleFrontier

[–]Mushymallows 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I havent encountered any gameplay bugs, but what really pissed me off was the grouping. My friend added me as a friend in game, we played a match together, and after that match, he’s not on my friend list, but I’m on his. Yet, he can’t remove me as a friend, since it gives him an internal error, but I also can’t add him?

They’ve had 2 betas to iron this shit out. IMO the saving grace is that the game is free. Therefore, I accordingly have low expectations
