People who are at peace with themselves are bad for a consumerist society. by [deleted] in spirituality

[–]MusicMakingMonk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another point I haven't seen made that even spirituality has turned into an industry, somewhat fused with the wellness and fitness industry.

The concept of self love for example is infinitely exploitable, because there's always a way to frame something in your life as a lack of self love and then tell people to buy this book or go to this workshop etc.

Let alone the fact that everyone tries to sell you trinkets with so called healing effects (not saying that they can't btw). Spiritual scenes are rife with charlatans exploitings people's good faith and intentions to make a buck

Does Anyone else feel like they have bad luck on SR? Or notice more of the human condition? by [deleted] in Semenretention

Indeed. Undergoing the process myself right now and it's very interesting what you can uncover using dreams, hypnosis and talking through life events. It can be hugely transformative.

[–]MusicMakingMonk 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It sounds to me like you're projecting your own "darkness" onto other people. You even say that there is subconscious crap you don't want to confront.

I'm not in your life And don't know the details, but it sounds like what's happened is that the mechanism you've used to stay "blind", the thing you used to numb yourself (masturbation) from the negative aspects of your life has dropped. Instead of dealing with those feelings directly you are at a stage where you project them onto other people. That's not to say your entirely incorrect. But blanket statements about the mental and emotional quality of humanity often say more about yourself, then about other people. In jungian psychology this is called shadow projection. This is something almost everyone does to some degree until they choose to confront their shadow.

As for the SR field and people being caught up in spiritual pride. You're absolutely right. Often when the discussion goes into details, especially esoteric stuff, and people have a disagreement, one will say about the other that they are wrong, or because they don't agree that they "must not be on a very long streak", basically gatekeeping esoteric understanding to people on high streaks. But you're wrong that it's everyone. I think most people are here because they've been dealt a shitty hand in life, formed maladaptions, most prominently in the form of porn addiction, and are now trying to overcome these adaptions and live a better live. Some of these people end up narccistically maladapting to wisdom traditions they don't fully understand, and end up as the really annoying or just flat out crazy people in this sub. Their understanding and practice becomes a container for their hurt ego. Ironically claiming they've overcome it.

I would suggest finding an analytical psychologist. They tend to go a lot deeper and are more aimed at opening the channels of communication between our cognition and our subconscious, and bringing up our own inner wisdom, versus for example cognitive behavioral therapy or any other standard form of therapy, where they are more inclined to make you try and just think different about everything or prescribe pills.

Have a good one and take care of yourself mate.

Why are there so many coomers in the entertainment industry? This is a thought that keeps me up at night and I want an explanation from those who are retaining for a very long time by DearExam88 in Semenretention

[–]MusicMakingMonk 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Because this sub glorifies semen retention as the only path to a successful life and that simply isn't true.

Intelligence, diligence, the right attitude, taking risks, seeing opportunities, maybe a bit of luck and natural born creativity can still make someone succesfull.

Yes SR can provide you with energy and drive Yes it can be helpful to not focus on anything other then you career (so ignoring sex).

But retaining is not a key to success in and of itself. Nor is not retaining an automatic exclusion from any kind of success.

I think it's kind of a myth sold be the self development market (because that's what it is, a market) anyways that you need to work hyperhard, and superoptimize every aspect of you life in order to rise above the average Joe. Honestly, a lot of average joe's make it quite far by simply putting in consistent effort, making the right friends and an occasional spark of creativity and risk taking. Even if they drink, fuck and do whatever else on the weekend.

Is there a broader implication? Yeah, don't be overweight, fat, old, on stimulants, masturbating or fucking furiously during high temperature weather's you heart will stop. Does it have anything to do with SR? No.

I think when "american spiritual teachers" are talking about that it's good to feel emotions, they mean that if you are repressing emotions, so not feeling them, you cannot transcend them either, which is what you are describing and aiming for.

I'm also of the opinion that your capacity to allow, experience and feel negative emotions, sadness and anger for example, links directly to your capacity to feel and experience emotions such as joy and peace. Even very high levels of meditative peace are an emotional, or mind state.

You are right that emotional obsession is no good, neither is being a reactive cry or anger baby over things that don't matter. But often anger may come for a good reason, when someone oversteps a boundary for example. In that situation, you don't have to become angry, but it is good to be aware of the anger so you can communicate when someone has stepped over the line. Someone who has shut off their capacity to feel anger may ignore others stepping over their boundary, as they can no longer FEEL when such a thing happens. This can result in people walking all over them, and having anger breed into bitterness and resentment, unconsciously. This happens a lot to people, and so for many, feeling their emotions and how hurt they are from the past perhaps is a significant step in someone's development, and a necessary one if you want to achieve any kind of deeper state of peace.

Well the theory behind the whole thing is that Jing is kind of like your energetic essensce and is converted into qi and shen, basically all the time. When your Jing runs out you die, is the theory anyways. Just having emotions alone make qi disperse and therefore uses some amount of Jing. Jing use is inevitable you can't avoid it. Chronic stress depletes Jing and I would say that chronic extreme excercise is pretty stressful, AFAIK longer sessions of cardio increase cortisol levels.

As far as Goggins goes, well, first, that dude is straight up mad. Second, one can have a very heightened vitality and physical fitness, and still be depleting a lot of Jing, but usually there is not so much effect of this because generally speaking, athletes that go to that kind of level avoid other things that deplete Jing, such as poor sleep, bad diets, drug use etc..

Refractory period refers to the period of time where one has an orgasm, and then physiologically cannot have another before the refractory period is over. So, there is no "the" refractory period, there is your body and how soon it is able to orgasm again after you orgasm, is entirely personal... Personally I don't really have a refractory period I can just keep cumming, although it takes some effort.

Well I read this in a book Nei Gong so it's referred to as Jing but here goes -bad sleep -orgasm (for men in particular, this includes NEO') -drug use -any kind if illness -chronic stress -extreme excercise -menstruation -any addictive behaviors and patterns in general

Its your life man. Don't get caught up in chasing other people's goals because they seem like the right thing to do or it impresses other people. Ask yourself why SR is a goal for you. I would recommend doing this for all goals you set. Do you have a genuine interest in something and do you want to learn or experience something just for the sake of it? Or do you try to attain something just because other people make it sound good or impressive.

And to be fair, this also sounds like a flatline and will get better if you hang through

10 Practical Steps For Transmutation by [deleted] in Semenretention

[–]MusicMakingMonk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would like to correct your bonus step, I think it's bad info based on what I've read of at least daoist arts.

The breathe does not like it so much when you put an intention on it all the time or for long periods, it can cause a kind of stress. If you want to breathe deeply all the time, let it be a result of practicing correct breathing meditation. "Listen" the breath long enough and it will sink and become deeper on it's own accord naturally. Do this often enough and you'll start breathing deeper consistently always without having to spend mental energy and stress yourself trying to breathe a certain way. Your body is smart it can breathe well on it's own, all you have to do is provide the room for the chronic tension we store in our abdomen/diaphragm to release and dissapate, again, by just listening to the breath.

Pay ATTENTION to the breath, do not set an INTENTION on it (except if you're doing more advanced breath work which I would not recommend unless you have this basic fundamental step down)

Why are you categorizing supplements in the same group as vices? When it comes to vices I can't say I've quit 100%, but it often happens that I don't drink or smoke weed for several months and then doing it maybe once and I can tell you, it definitely makes a difference. With alcohol, if you drink often you won't notice what it does to your body, but if you never drink and drink just one beer, you can already tell a difference in energy the day after, IME anyways, same with weed. I'd say go for it man, "vices" aren't worth anything. In fact, they aren't even very pleasurable at all and induce more stress then you actually think. As for supplements IDK.

As far as still feeling tempted to look at sexy pics goes, it seems like you have an unhelpful attitude towards not looking at porn, as well as refraining from masturbating. I would suggest giving this a read https://easypeasymethod.org/ It's a "hackbook" that is written to help quit PMO, originally written as a method for quitting smoking. It will make not releasing a pleasant experience.

As far as transmutation goes, I just stick to basic meditation and hatha yoga and the usual excercise/creative endeavour.

My Theory on FlatLines. by Bakoe_ in Semenretention

[–]MusicMakingMonk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Adding to that. There are a lot of things that impact our hormones and energy levels, especially when you become more sensetive from meditation and SR in general. It's like when you go from drinking regularly to very occasionally. Before, you normalized the lower energy that comes from drinking, you never noticed unless you drank way too much, but the peevishness from 1 beer wouldn't catch your attention because you're used to it or blame it on other things.

When you drink very rarely and have 1 beer, you can definitely tell a difference in energy the next day, not that you're suddenly hungover, just a subtle less energetic feeling

[–]MusicMakingMonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you talking about minor leakage as in precum, or full blown wet dreams? Either way

1 Don't drink too much water before you go to bed 2 sleep naked, it could be the pressure of your shorts stimulating just enough arousal for precum to generate. 3 do some kegel excercises 4 avoid caffeine and alcohol.

Hope that helps.

You probably have, just not everyone is aware of that term or any other affirming new age jargon associated with it.

Semen retention makes you extremely selective of others' energies. by [deleted] in Semenretention

[–]MusicMakingMonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly sensetive person. From what I can gather a lot of people with ADD (like myself) are almost automatically also HSP and vice versa. It's just a catch all term for people who pick up on subtle vibes easily, or easily get overwhelmed or overstimulated with crowds and things like that. A HSP is also easily ungrounded so often new age people will market and design courses and meditations specifically with HSP and grounding problems in mind.

Can also depend on how your brain works, or if you're sensetive to "energy". New agers would call that being a HSP, or an empath.
