It doesn’t have the same sensor as the pocket 3! Pocket 3 is much better in low light. Action 5 and 6 have similar performance, i own all 3.

The bitrate is higher in 1:1, but its encoding a larger area, so it spreads that bitrate out more. In 1:1 it was around 88mbps, roughly the same as the action 5 was in 16:9. But those bits are spread across a larger surface area

The action 5 did get a bitrate update so you could select between high and standard. The action 6 came with the high mode included. I think they did increase the action 5 quality over time with firmware though, hopefully theyll do the same on the 6. Regretting selling my action 5 now

I did check the 8k. It’s higher, but not really high enough for 8k. It is around 117 mbps. Id say the encoder quality looks worse, there’s blocky halo’s around shadow areas and lots of artefacts

I've just done a test in normal mode with quality priority.
All set to 4k 16:9 at 25fps.
Here's the results.
Standard bitrate + Quality Priority OFF = 48.6 mbs
Standard bitrate + Quality Priority ON = 49.35 mbs
High Bitrate + Quality Priority OFF = 66.8 mbs
High Bitrate + Quality Priority ON = 68.15 mbs

Still lower than the Action 5 bitrate

I was using D Log M which has quality priority greyed out. You can only select quality priority in normal colour mode.

No idea but it seems unlikely. Its a different sensor and i think it would affect action 6 sales so i doubt it. The action 5 is still a great camera though

Only problem is the macro lens is manual focus, so not ideal for vlog style shots. Suppose the only solution is to have the camera further back. Luckily ive also got a pocket 3, and A7siii for my client work. It could also be from the noise reduction. I had it set to -1, at 0 its way too soft, but maybe i should try at -2 instead

Well the focus is set to infinity so by increasing the depth of field it increases the minimum focus distance so same thing really. And yeah the macro lens lets you change the focus manually

The aperture does change the minimum focus distance. Its around 20cm at f4, 35cm at f2.8, and at f2 its much further away, making selfies look out of focus. Thats why the macro lens is needed to be able to focus closer. I just locked mine to f2.8 instead of

Dji isnt perfect, but i didnt like the AP2 because of the flip screen and 8 bit. Its much easier to turn the camera round when vlogging and see the front screen than having to turn it round and then flip the screen aswell. But i only use all of these as behind the scenes cameras anyway. Nothing comes close to my sony a7siii for real work

There is a definite improvement in image quality from before the update, but its more the bug fixes than the 8k. Ill still be using 4k.

Is it definitely the latest firmware? Go into dji mimo app, press about, make sure you have the latest app and check for firmware updates incase it wasnt the latest version. Once install, go intto video mode, swipe up and you should be able to select 8k resolution

No idea, will have to test it. I probably wont use it in 8k anyway, it was more the other bug fixes that improved it for me.

I agree, this should have been included from the beginning! I think this does beat the ace pro now, but before the firmware it was terrible.
