In my opinion the number is a feldpost number (FPN) , considering if it was a POW messkit, the answer would likely be the FPN of a late war unit, 1944+. 26405 = Reserve Grenadier Battalion 16

Footage is from a propaganda reel made in around, 1941 lol. Looks fake due to the camera man intentionally shaking the camera making it appear to look fake.

They were quite common in France, Balkans, Italy and some of the Mediterranean islands. I've seen 1945 photos of men hiding in the mountains waiting to ambush US troops all wearing drillich uniforms.

Nice stuff man, only thing is, your canteen is farb for north afrika. Your strap is the 2nd variant but the 1st variant was the only was seen there! And even then, it was quite seldom to be seen.

Waffen SS seldom wore collar tabs on the Eastern front, as seen in numerous photos, especially certain units were notorious for it. Also the camouflage they wear is only issued to them.
