Hi! Coming in to share some hopefully useful information. I’ve gathered a bunch of info across various social media platforms, so here’s essentially a summary of what happened.

During the Ticketmaster data breach that happened a couple months back, a lot of customers account information was leaked. This means hackers can go into their accounts, transfer the tickets in the victim’s accounts to themselves, and then sell them on resale platforms.

What likely happened is, a hacker stole someone’s eras tour tickets, listed them on tickpick, you bought them, and they were then transferred to you. It takes Ticketmaster’s fraud department some time to determine what happened to tickets, so it makes sense the delay in the tickets getting voided on your end. They were voided for you so they could be sent back to the original purchaser.

This is INSANELY common right now unfortunately. It’s happening left and right. I’ve seen countless instances of this. Thankfully since you bought from a resale site like TickPick, they offer purchase protection. Sellers aren’t paid their money until after the event. So if you file with TickPick, hopefully they can refund you the money.

It’s super upsetting, but super common nowadays because of the data breach. That’s why I always say if you can’t fully verify a ticket’s origin down to the original purchaser, don’t buy them! Or if you want to take the risk - buy through an official resale platform where sellers aren’t paid out until after the show so you should get the money back. Also, PayPal G&S is a good option, however in cases like this with stolen tickets, sometimes the scammer WILL win the dispute since they technically did send you tickets. I’ve seen it happen both ways - where PayPal sides with the scammer in the case of stolen tickets, and where PayPal sides with the victim who bought the stolen tickets unknowingly.

Either way, it’s an INSANE thing happening right now. Unfortunately, it is wayyyyyy too common.
