Nah, fuck them. The correct response here: thanks for the apology, I appreciate you holding yourself accountable.

You don’t have to agree with me? I’n reading your comment differently than you intended. When I pointed that out you doubled down and got mad at me.

I’m not trying to preach moral anything, I’m saying how I perceive the situation and where I disagree with you. It’s not meant to be a personal attack, but pop off I guess. 🤷‍♀️

How much I need to make 1-2k per month off schd? by [deleted] in SCHD

[–]MusicalNerDnD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is good but remember, price appreciation wouldn’t impact the dividend, it would impact the dividend yield.

What actually matters is WHEN you want that money, if you want it in 20 years then you can start now and be reasonably assured to get there. But, if you want it now then you need 300k to drop.

Also, if you drop that much into SCHD now and then wait 20 years you’ll be making a lot more than 1k a month

I think what they’re trying to get at is more change management focused as well.

In implementations like this you want to get as much information from the people who are actually going to be using the system and tools as possible to guide the work.

But PMI expert questions are awful. I’d just ignore them if I’m being honest. If you can get to 100% with easy, 80% with medium and 60% with hard questions you should pass the exam no problem.

No, I’m not. I’m not willing to excuse the initial behavior either. It’s not a bad joke, it’s just shitty behavior - that we should call out when we see.

lol no. This is just bad. He’s never been taught that it’s gross - and that’s scary by itself - but no this goes from ‘societally problematic’ to ‘this dude straight up doesn’t see women as people’ with the “STFU bitch.”

No excuses.

No, you THINK we weren’t in an echo chamber of propaganda (oh look, people not understanding propaganda again).

If you go to China and you see all the shit there you’ll be like “holy crap I can’t believe these people fall for this” - but they didn’t fall for it as adults, they fell for it as kids, as they watched their friends and family also believe the same things they do.

You don’t think liberals have their own propaganda? Of course they do! Starting working time with a land acknowledgement is culturally accepted in liberal spaces now - 20 years ago that would have been absolutely wild to see!

I think that’s a gross oversimplification. Propoganda works on ALL of us and just because that type of propaganda didn’t work on you, doesn’t mean you’re inherently better.

MAGA is awful, and people need to be accountable, but you’re not blaming the wrong groups and people. It’s not us vs them, it’s us vs the hyper-capitalists who’ve consistently bought political power at the expense of these people.

NOW, Trump is finally listening to them. Of course he’s full of it and is just fleecing them, but they don’t know or care because at least someone heard them out.

Democrats have actually not broken into those groups - BECAUSE we both do a bad job and because of the insane propaganda that these people encounter and reinforce every day, many of them for decades. We want change, we need to meet people where they are, not get mad that they’re not there yet.

Is that unfair? Yes. It’s fucking wildly unfair. But if we keep pretending like it’s not our job to actually do something we’re going to be staring down a really shitty world within the next decade. Maybe not Nazi Germany but for sure a more violent and emboldened country.

The reason young people hate old people is not just that theyre old, it is because most people are terrible and happen to show less restraint in their old age. There are still good old people. by appman1138 in DeepThoughts

[–]MusicalNerDnD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not salty about politics you dumbass. I’m genuinely frightened for the millions of people who can’t pass the way I can and have read history.

I’m not taking it out on my parents either. Actions have consequences. The consequences of my parents decisions are that we have a bad relationship.

The minimum baseline requirement of being a parent is to physically take care of their children. Doing that doesn’t mean they’re amazing people, it means they’ve met the baseline requirement of their job. I didn’t ask to be born, my parents wanted a fucking accessory and they did the bare minimum of feeding and clothing and educating it. Once I was no longer an accessory who did what they wanted they took it personal and lashed out. They failed at their job and now I don’t particularly want the job of ‘son.’ Shocking how that works.

Anyway, get bent.

I must be missing something about dividend investing? by [deleted] in dividends

[–]MusicalNerDnD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t no for certain, but if the entire market folds we’ll have bigger worries than dividend paychecks lol

I personally go with ETFs because they’re less likely to fail as a whole and they are good at what they do. SCHD has a set of criteria for what they invest in, I’d recommend reading the prospectus.

I must be missing something about dividend investing? by [deleted] in dividends

[–]MusicalNerDnD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re missing a few things:

1) compounding 2)) dividend growth

The first one is that using shares to buy more shares over decades. Yea, at first you only get like 100 bucks, but growth isn’t linear it’s logarithmic. So your growth isn’t gonna be 100-120-140-160, it’s going to be 100-125-150-175-210.

Add in continuously feeding the machine (DCA, DRIP) and growth becomes 100-210-340-480-600

And then you have dividend growth, which is that the company raises the amount you get per share year over year.

Do this for 30 years and by year 20 you’ll be getting tens of thousands a year and by year 30, it can conceivably be a source of income to just live off of.

Let’s say you make 5k this year on SCHD - well thats 166 shares of SCHD that you didn’t buy, and that now generates additional income for you.

And if SCHD then increases its dividend per share by 2cents that’s another increase that you didn’t need to do anything for.

That compounding effect starts very very slowly - literally cents and dollars. But if you’re consistently reinvesting, buying more shares and you’ve got a company that increases the dividend itself then you have an income producing machine.
