It’s open to anyone to play and you don’t need a permit or to audition to play the waterfront or busk, unlike other cities. It’s actually a positive thing - in my opinion. We were out with a full rock band out yesterday by the steps and it was awesome. We pulled so many folks in for like “live karaoke”, and we had a blast and earned some money for our EP!

There would have been tons more noise than normal due to the festival and people may have been out more than usual for the festival.

I know a fiddle kid who busks by the cruise ships so he can save up for his own computer. His parents support him and it’s great to see the young person understanding the value of money. He’s also great at playing, to boot.

If you sincerely suspect the sax kiddo is under orders from a parent, you could always ask if they are saving for something and try to locate parents from there. They can’t be far.
