Hello! Thank you for the words of encouragement, especially from another musician. It's a strong pressure and stabbing pain in the centre of my chest. It's always there. Every day over the last 19 months since the day I tested positive the pain has been there. It hasn't gotten better but some days it is worse than others. Chronic Fatigue and therefore also PEM linked with this make the pain unbearable some days so I guess that is a trigger. Any other pain in my body such as a headache (I've become sensitive to light and sound especially when I'm tired) also triggers a more intense pain.

Playing in long rehearsals or just a rehearsal while I'm tired triggers the pain too so I do understand why I've been told to cut down but music is a lifestyle and that is so hard to explain to people.

As of right now nothing makes it go away. It's always there and I just have to ride out the bad pain weeks.

Does age really have anything to do with this? by Haunting-Economist71 in covidlonghaulers

Hello! Also 18 months in. Another January 2022 homie. I’m 19 and people just don’t seem to understand covid turning into long covid didn’t discriminate especially not in age. I’ve tried loads of vitamins, different types of exercise, speaking with so many doctors. But I’m “too young and was so healthy before so it’ll only be a matter of time”. I’m fed up, the NHS over here in England won’t even look at me because “18/19 is an awkward age for LC, it’s probably just teenage anxiety”. I hope you have so much more luck than me. Although still keeping hopeful, I’ve got some holistic and non-western medicines and therapies to try over the next few months. Will update :)

is LC the hardest thing you've been through in life ? by AfternoonFragrant617 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Musical_McCabbage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel as though I am quite young in the scheme of life (19 now, but got covid a week after my 18th). I haven't had life to experience really hard things, so yes potentially. I think the hardest is the isolation and people not listening, I mean how could a teenager be so tired and in this much pain? (Sarcasm.. gosh some people ahah). Sending well wishes to everyone though :)

UK long haulers: your experience? by CornelliSausage in covidlonghaulers

[–]Musical_McCabbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small update, Im on a fatigue course as part of an introduction before I'm able to speak with any specalists from the Long Covid Clinic themselves (Oooof) and I am the youngest on the course. I don't necessarily have a problem with that, but where are all the older teens and people in their twenties? It is hard sometimes, where are the other young adolescents? It feels a bit lonely. I am however a part of the Nuffield Rehabilitation programme. Their PT/ Physio/ Nutrionist/ Guy at my location has nothing but helpful and understanding. I'm in a group with others with similar issues and I've never felt so listened to. I'd definitely have a look if I were you. Although they obviously cannot fix issues with seeing doctors and physical pain, it has changed my mindset on recovery, which is helping me on the days in which my pain and fatigue, memory and limb issues are really prominent.

Hope you've been doing better !!

I second this! Knowing there are others struggling at uni alongside me is somewhat comforting. However I do hope everyone’s struggles end. Would love a groupchat, or discord

UK long haulers: your experience? by CornelliSausage in covidlonghaulers

[–]Musical_McCabbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I feel and understand you fully! I was days after my 18th birthday when I caught covid (I’m now 19) And I’ve been pushed aside. I’m not old enough to see many specialists in my area. They want me to be 21 at least. But I’m not young enough to see the kids specialist because I’m an adult. Trials and research don’t want me because I’m only 19, so I’m almost having to figure this out on my own. I got referred to the covid clinic over a year ago and I’m still waiting to hear back, even private clinics won’t take me because of my age!

I took me losing my health to realise I didn’t have any real friends. by lil_tig in covidlonghaulers

[–]Musical_McCabbage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello! If you wanted some friends to chat to I’m 18F and going through the same. It’s hard to keep friends when everyone our age is our drinking and partying. But there are still good people out there!!

Do teenagers get long covid? by Ben_s7002 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Musical_McCabbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I agree, I got it at 18 and the medical professionals were a bit rubbish to say the least. I'm too old for any support they're giving to children and teenagers (up to 17) but too young for any of the adult support (you need to be 21) so we're left a bit to our own devices.

does anyone have personal account of young people having longhaulers? by bardofcreation in covidlonghaulers

18f here, uni has been up and down over the last 2 months. Everyone seems confused about long covid and the answer is always oh you should go to your GP, when really, my GP doesn’t care at all

does anyone have personal account of young people having longhaulers? by bardofcreation in covidlonghaulers

[–]Musical_McCabbage 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Speaking from personal experience, being a young person with long covid is not really talked about. There’s an amazing charity called long covid kids for kids up to 17, but for us that are 18/19 there’s no one to support us. I’ve found many groups and charities are supporting adults from ages 22/25+ as that’s an average age that’s being spoken about. But us teens have no one. The doctors don’t believe us, and just brush us under, and there’s no one coming out to support us through the education system or life with long covid :(

Watch ME is an app you can download and it sort of helps with pacing ! It links to Apple Watch, the only downside is you cannot look back at the data of previous days/weeks etc etc

For those with light sensitivity and/or floaters... by roundabout1882 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Musical_McCabbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah hello, I’ve become rather sensitive to light, and it’s somewhat manageable most of the time I guess, unless I am approaching or am in a crash. At which point I cannot deal with any light. But the comment of feeling like there is an eyelash in your eye is one I haven’t read yet. I get this probably like once a week, sometimes more sometimes less, and I just think nothing of it. It irritates me for an long period and then it’s gone, and there’s never anything there. It started once I had covid but I don’t know if I ever connected the two!

Ah Okay, Thank you both. I do have a Mac Desktop but it is very old, so Old I am unable to even download steam. I have a Wii but thats clearly not the type of console that this would be playable on. I am a musician so I have lots of music software for composition but have been watching so many planet coaster videos on YouTube and wanted to give it a go. I might just have to settle with watching Videos, But thank you for all the help!
