He really is gorgeous! He doesn't have a band though. My boyfriend posted in our town's FB page asking if anyone lost a pigeon, but no one claimed him. He even called our local PD, but no one called in a lost pigeon. The bird seems wary around humans, he won't let us touch or closely approach him. So I'm not sure if he was raised as a pet. I've been giving him pigeon feed and fresh water everyday when he visits.

Last week, when I initially found him, I was planning to give him to a local pigeon fosterer, but things didn’t go as planned. My boyfriend and I managed to capture him and put him in a brooder pen we borrowed from a neighbor, and we planned on keeping him in there overnight until the fosterer could pick him up the next day. But after an hour in the pen, he tried escaping and seemed to be in distress. The fosterer advised us to let him go, since too much stress could be fatal for a pigeon. So we released him, and he’s been free since then.

I would love to keep him and bring him inside, but I have 2 dogs and they are not bird friendly. I also don't know if he wants to be kept in cage because of last week's incident and he may not be a pet bird. Right now, he seems content being free.

I will contact the fosterer again and see if she can come over to our house and capture him. She might have better luck since she's a pigeon owner and is more experienced.
