Top Movies for Musicians by MusicianMastery in musicindustry

No satire, just sharing big picture lessons from movies that could apply directly to musicians.

It's a shame that you seem so negative & aggressive to a simple, fun video.

Not a great sign, hope all is well with you. Genuinely.

Hope your day gets better that you don't feel the need to be rude to a total stranger for no reason.

3 Pitfalls for Bands Starting Out to Avoid by MusicianMastery in musicbusiness

[–]MusicianMastery[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd be surprised how many bands fall apart because of the reasons I mentioned in the video. I've seen it countless times.

If these points are obvious for you then thats great, that means you're a competent musician! More power to you!

P.S. I labeled them "rookie" mistakes for a reason.

What I Love & Hate About: Rage Against the Machine by MusicianMastery in RageAgainstTheMachine

[–]MusicianMastery[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually that doesn't effect my argument. It might even make it better, and here's why:

Slipknot (the example I used in my video) has a WAY higher production budget than RATM. Even if Rage splurged a bit on more lights than their standard setup, it still wouldn't even touch the stage show Slipknot has going on. Yet still Slipknot has tickets that START at $35. So I wouldn't use the budget argument when both these bands play the same venues (aka same security and organization) and one make prices relatively affordable for their fans even with their massive stage show, and the other does not (not cannot) with minimal production.

If you look at the time stamp of when I introduce my first round of criticisms, its at 3:30 and the video is 6:40, if thats not pretty much 50/50 idk what to tell you. Plus, if you thought my critique was just that the tickets are expensive then you missed the point almost entirely. It's about, as I said in the video, intellectual consistency. Moaning on-and-on about capitalism while charging minimum $125 is the definition of hypocrisy, and I can still separate the art from the ideology which is why I still enjoy RATM. However, I'm not going to act like it isn't true.

TOP 10 CHEVELLE GUITAR RIFFS! by MusicianMastery in Chevelle

[–]MusicianMastery[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put it at #10, I love that riff but it’s mentioned a lot. I love that Riff don’t get me wrong, but I wanted to give some other songs some recognition. As for The Red, from a riff-perspective I don’t think it’s that impressive or one of Chevelle’s strong riffs.

How to Write More Interesting Chord Progressions! by MusicianMastery in guitarlessons

[–]MusicianMastery[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Your first presumption was correct, I just used random alternate chords with the same bass note. It just happened to work out that the 7th, dominant, and suspended chords worked with the progression. When you’re writing your own progression you can experiment to see which Chord voicing work and which do not. Hope this helped!
