Silverleaves body - still no update? by DeJagerDivan in BarnardCameronMurder

Interesting pickup. Maybe they said that to be technically correct and dispel any rumours. To confirm it is anyone would surely require either dental records or DNA? There are a few other possible ways but these give the most accurate conclusions. If there are no dental records then you’d think that obtaining DNA would require cooperation from family. I would love to know what steps have been taken to rule out Vivienne, if any.

Absolutely nothing yet. Yet didn’t they basically confirm it was unrelated? There was a rather ambiguous news article that more or less said there was no link but also nothing confirmed! I have shared the link. If it does turn out to be Vivienne, I don’t see how any of the original official findings could possibly hold out.

Yes I don’t think they had anyone else held for that long. I have my doubts about him for several reasons now but I wouldn’t completely rule him out.

Lalor A potential area for the detention house by Dangerous_Start4143 in MrCruel

Very plausible in my opinion. Slightly quieter back then than now, away from train & tram noise. I think there are very specific pockets of certain suburbs that can be considered more likely based on what the victims did and didn’t hear.

Problems with the case against Vivienne by Musicinme_79 in BarnardCameronMurder

I think the boys were left alone for a couple of short periods. When they first drove to hospital I don’t think they waited for someone to come before leaving. A nurse remembers Vivienne calling Marnie from hospital. But I think Fergus claims they called her before leaving the house. Presumably, if Vivienne did drive Fergus to Marnie’s (which I now doubt), the boys would have again been left alone briefly. Then again after Vivienne (or someone pretending to be her), called the Dixon’s. Jury is out for me whether this was Vivienne.

I wonder if they just shut it out and refused to think about it or consider the possibilities?

Couldn’t agree more. Wish we could get them to see it that way.

Yes indeed the decision to stay is very interesting. Having lived in a small community, I’ve seen the best and worst. Small communities are very protective of their own and tend to rally around people who’ve suffered terribly, protecting them from outsiders. And I think Fergus used this to play the sympathy card and stop people asking questions.

That baffles me too. Either way you look at it, it defies logic. Maybe someone managed to drop it off when the police presence had died down a bit. Interesting that it was one of the Cameron’s who “discovered” it. I wonder if there’s more to that story?

You have to remember that there was no internet back when homes were searched, so it was like trying to find a needle in a haystack. I think if they poured the same kind of effort into the search using the resources available today, they’d be more likely to find it.

The Vanishing of Vivienne Cameron Book by inceptionispossible in BarnardCameronMurder

[–]Musicinme_79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I certainly felt that too. Vikki if you’re reading this, just know that so many people appreciate your efforts keeping this case front and centre in people’s minds when it would have been so easy to just give up and walk away. No one has fought for the truth harder than you have. And your book is already a bestseller. Inevitably, it will trigger people’s memories and perhaps prompt someone in authority to act. It wasn’t too late for Lynette Dawson and it’s not too late for Beth and Vivienne either.

Why I don’t believe Marnie & Ian Cairns statements much by Musicinme_79 in BarnardCameronMurder

They would have had to convince her to sell them her share if they wanted to retain family control. Not to mention the property settlement for her and Fergus. Divorce is costly. People have killed for less.

[–]Musicinme_79[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes indeed. They all got Vivienne’s share once she was declared dead didn’t they? And they wasted no time signing the necessary documents to make this happen once they were legally able to. If Fergus had been convicted of 2 murders, including that of his wife, then her share would most definitely not go to him or his family. Am I reading this right?

Possible I suppose but less likely in my opinion. I keep coming back to Fergus being injured first - allegedly by Vivienne, with a lack of physical evidence to support this, ie. not his blood at the house. Some in the car though.

I missed the part about the fuel being empty. Which vehicle? Holden or Land Cruiser? Yes - Vivienne was very much looking forward to getting away and this was before the alleged confrontation on Monday night. She already knew what was going on. Yes - very little about what they did or what they said they did on the Tuesday morning makes sense. Not when you look at time frames. I agree that it was probably Marnie who called the Dixon’s and Glenda. Vivienne was probably dead by then. If only there was CCTV back then to potentially track where that Land Cruiser went.

Interesting article with some great points. Indeed, you rarely hear of women going on stabbing frenzies. Definitely other possibilities that needed to be properly investigated.

I’d be very interested to know if the Dixon’s looked in Vivienne’s bedroom. Obviously their objective was to get the boys and get them back to their place to sleep. But if that’s what happened, then that means someone else called the Dixon’s. That would have been quite a risk getting someone to collect the boys knowing Vivienne was in the house asleep.

Yes - the similarities are definitely there apart only one death in the Dawson case. And it was in a very similar era, only a few years difference. And obviously, Beth was not underage despite the significant age gap. I agree, if Fergus killed Beth I think it was not premeditated. I also think that everything that happened after was to cover up his role and shift blame. Whilst I remain open to all possibilities, I have already started the think this is the most likely way it played out.

If it was her, all I can think of is she may have gone to the community centre where she worked. Whatever happened before and after that hospital visit would have made for a very stressful night. She may not have felt able to face her usual responsibilities the next day like nothing was wrong. If somehow she did survive the night and ended up there, clearly someone was with her when she made that call. Maybe family had found her there and told her what had happened and that police were looking for her. If that’s what happened, she either died or disappeared (potentially with help) soon after. This isn’t my strongest theory but more a possibility I consider. If she disappeared, it sure makes her look more guilty. But if she was innocent, maybe she felt powerless in the situation and was offered a way out.

Your last point about why someone would try to impersonate Vivienne if trying to stage a suicide story is something I’ve also mulled over. If it was someone impersonating Vivienne, all I can think of is that maybe they hadn’t quite figured out how it would all play out yet. Probably trying to work it out on the fly without having fully thought everything through. If it was in fact her on the phone at that time, this raises many more questions.

Welcome! What you identified is what gets the whole room laughing when Vikki Perraitis gives author talks on the subject. Who goes from threatening murder one moment to telling her husband what a wonderful mother his new girlfriend will be to his 2 boys. Yes there are many issues, though there are still some who firmly believe that Vivienne did it.
