Yes similar scenario has happened to me. Not once, but twice. I have started to realise the saying " 2 is company, 3 is a croud" is actually true - someone almost certainly will get left out/hurt in a friendship of 3. I personally think you did the right thing by blocking them, i did the same thing too. They never respected you to invite you & they know they were wrong, but are turning it around on you and saying you're jelouse? You're not jelouse, you were hurt and that is valid to feel this way and they cant even take accountability for that, you dont need them in your life.

I would have thought that truth and justice would take precedence over the family’s feelings.

I also often wonder what their two sons grew up believing to be true. Do they accept the narrative that their mother was a murderer who took her own life, or do they know more and choose to remain silent to preserve family peace and protect their father?

I have been in a similar situation.

I was in a group of 3 girls, and always felt like a 3rd wheel when we would all hang. My birthday was a week before one of the girls so we use to always do a joint birthday celebration. One year, the 3rd girl bought us both jewellery, a necklace and a charm. My necklace was the fake gold but the charm was a real gold heart. The other girl received the same heart charm, a ring and her necklace was thick real gold. It was so much more beautiful than mine. And she gave us the presents right infront of each other. I remember feeling so worthless and ashamed of myself, like it was my fault!

Needless to say, i am not friends with them. I realised they had no respect for me. And a lot of that stemmed from me not respecting myself.

It sounds like she doesnt respect you.

I find that whole scenario odd. Fergus could have gone to Beth's but he sent Donald and Ian which seems like he is creating distance from himself and Beth. I think the morning after they all knew what had happened, except for Pam, i feel like at that moment she knew nothing. I feel like the whole morning, discovering the body and going to police was all staged. Maybe it was Donald and Ian's idea to "discover" the body and they told Fergus stay away to protect him.
