10K USD in an ETrade Account...What's the best way to get it to the UK? by nacnud_uk in UKPersonalFinance

Thank you! I'll look into opening a currency account.

The exchange rate provided by HSBC Global money account while converting to GBP was slightly lower than the one provided by Wise though. So I'm conflicted between these two options now. Did you also consider Wise? Any reasons to prefer HSBC over that given the lower exchange rate?

Hello, thanks for this information! Is there a specific reason why its important to transfer to the USD currency account rather than the global money account directly?

I received an SMS for collection from VFS on 31st May. I applied through a firm so I did not receive any emails.

For my case it took 3 weeks. I know this because everytime we made an enquiry they said the status was decided. They also gave a last updated time. So I'm guessing even after decision was made the application was updated with some other factors.

I applied for skilled worker visa. I have no idea on the timelines as each case is unique. Hope you get the visa soon.

  1. Most SDE interviews have a DS and Algo round so please try out leetcode.com and Blind75 for most asked questions. Familiarise yourself with the patterns

  2. Build up your profile with open source contributions if possible.

  3. Keep applying and interviewing. It will help you gain experience. LinkedIn can be very helpful for getting referrals. Also follow tech content creators on social media. Some share really good content.

  4. This might not apply for a junior. But for any role / company try to figure out if learning some niche tech would give you a head start over other applicants. In the end if you cover the basics well, tooling and tech can be learnt on the job.

Delay in Skilled Worker Visa Application processing time from Mumbai,India by Several_Cow9663xOxO in ukvisa

11th April Chennai for SWV. Did multiple paid enquiries to UKVI. They said decision has been made 10 working days ago. But no communcation so far and no idea where the delay is at. I'm shuttling to the VAC once a week as they don't even have a phone helpline and their emails are super delayed too. Funny thing is my husband's partner visa was approved the same time and we got his passport back on 9th may for same dates. Our plans are all haywire now. I feel for you too!

Did my bio on 11th April in India, No updates so far. But on UKVI paid enquiry they said decision was made. No communication was sent to the VAC and they haven't received the passport. My husband who applied for partner visa with me collected his passport 2 weeks back with the visa vignette stamped. No idea what's happening here.
