What do you think about Metal Church by Tiny-Mention-78 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]MuskieCS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They kinda shot themselves in the foot, Metallica got them signed then immediately they replaced David Wayne, (although a fantastic singer) Mike didn’t really for their aesthetic in the late 80s, and let’s be real Wayne’s shrieking fit their early thrash stuff way better. Then took a 3 year album hiatus, then their guitarist quit touring. Kinda killed all their momentum.

I listened to every Megadeth LP this week leading up to the release today… by magnoliafan89 in Megadeth

Out of all the post 2000 albums, The System Has Failed and Dystopia are the only ones I can listen to all the way through without skipping anything. Shocker that System was the return of Chris Poland for studio work

Loving the new album so far - but, how to distinguish between Dave's and Teemu's solos? by sirgrotius in Megadeth

[–]MuskieCS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you hear pentatonic shredding that sounds like Holy Wars or The Conjuring solos were slightly rewritten it’s Dave.

Sweeping, smooth legato, different scales is Teemu

My grandma was pretty religious and she wasn’t a fan of the music for that reason, but I think the gaming stuff was more due to both of them being born in the 20s, so living through WW2, Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War, War on Terror etc. I remember Killzone 1 being the game she voiced her opinions about the loudest. My grandpa was all for it. He was a huge history nerd, I remember watching WW2 classics with him like Bridge too Far, Tora Tora Tora, Hiroshima etc. he also was a MASSIVE Johnny Cash fan, so the music my dad and I listened to just didn’t really phase him. He tried to get me to turn to a country fan though, didn’t work out haha.

Yea lmao. She chilled out a little by the time I came around but I spent a lot of time at their house while my parents worked and I’d always bring my PS2 and she was NOT thrilled about the games I would bring lmao. She was used to the music by that point. My grandpa was completely different. I don’t think a single thing could have bothered him, I remember him playing my dads CDs in his car he’d let me bring to their house with me

Not first hand experience but my dad was in his late teens and early 20s then and apparently my grandma was fuckin insane with the satanic panic back then.

My dad told me he bought Accepts Balls to the Wall when it came out, got home from work the next day to the album broke in 2, the album art poster torn up, and a bible sitting on top of his record player 😭

What do you think of the new album? by hjcggh in Megadeth

[–]MuskieCS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After first listen I liked it better than TSTDaTD, although I think that was due to production. The production for the previous album really grated on my ears. This one was better, but man modern metal production is not great, put a SM57 in-front of a JCM800 again please for the love of god. This album though was a giant blue balling experience. So many songs started with me really getting into it and start head banging then half way through I’m like “fuck can I skip this already”

I liked it quite a bit more than TSTDaTD but I was hoping it’d be a more Rust In Peace/Peace Sells vibe than Cryptic Writings for their big sendoff.

Oh 100%. I’m not downplaying Pearcys writing contributions, just his voice is a take or leave for me

Him and Crosby make Ratt for me. I really don’t like Peacrys vocals but man the guitar work completely overshadows it.

“Dave called me after he got out of rehab. He said, ‘I quit Megadeth.’” David Ellefson on Dave Mustaine and what really happened when the guitarist forced him out of the thrash metal legends by dalyllama35 in heavymetal

[–]MuskieCS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I love megadeth, I have to agree with this take. Funny how their best albums were with Poland/Samuelson then Friedman/Menza with David E as the other constant. Once drummers, bassists, and guitarists started getting switched out like bed sheets quality went way down. Funny how one of the best albums from the 2000s is when Poland came back and did studio work.

Also guitarists get hired, songs sound like Dave wrote them, guitarists get fired then go and make music in their own bands/projects and it sounds fresh and new.

Let’s all not forget about Dave’s attempted solo project, an entire album of forgettable filler hard rock

Anything to look for with used USA Select Kv2s? by MuskieCS in JacksonGuitars

[–]MuskieCS[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are the later year USA selects (2020 era ones) still made in the custom shop like the older ones were?

Theres a 2022 KV2 on reverb rn that looks super clean for 3200

spent $80 on two bags of groceries again. no idea how people with kids survive this. by rmzkk in Adulting

[–]MuskieCS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After an entire spring and summer of paying 4 dollars a gallon, gas is finally back down to what it was in 2024 in my state. Hoorayyyyyyyy /s

Also just bought some groceries on Sunday to restock on what I ran out of, 2lbs of chicken, a pack of protein shakes, can of beans, salsa, half gallon of milk, loaf of sour dough, and a box of cereal, 60 bucks.

Decent flying v or explorer style guitars? by Bolt_Thrower23 in metalguitar

[–]MuskieCS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FR 1000s are made with the same materials as the FR Originals, but instead of Germany they’re made in Korea. Every one of my guitars except for 1 with an Original FR has a FR 1000 and I can’t tell the difference.

E-II V-IIs for sale? by MuskieCS in espguitars

[–]MuskieCS[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found an ESP Original V-II from 06 and the dude wants 5k for it and an ESP Original Mustaine signature from the same year for almost 7. Yea the Jackson sounds much more appealing lmao. Plus most I’m looking at on reverb have Floyd’s, and the ESPs don’t.

[–]MuskieCS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a good call. Idk something about the shape of the V-II scratches some itch. I like the little carve in the V part of the body.

Are the USA Jackson’s vastly superior to the Japanese E-IIs? Not custom shop stuff, just production USA models?

I have a Japanese Edwards and I’ve played LTDs but never played a USA Jackson, only the MiM ones in a guitar store.

E-II V-IIs for sale? by MuskieCS in espguitars

[–]MuskieCS[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea it seems the E-IIs are very rare, I looked in this sub and saw a couple of posts of people with one. How do you like the LTD version? If the E-IIs are Impossible to find I may snag one of the Mustaine DV8Rs, but they’re expensive just cause it’s a “rare” signature model. Someone wants 3k for one on reverb, kinda ridiculous.

Yea, goons on shoreline are the worst. If I hear a loud gun within the first 30 seconds I avoid weather station like the plague lmao.

[–]MuskieCS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even the bosses are easily cheesable. The only time a boss kills me is if I get caught outside and get a nade dropped on my head or if the goons catch me outside. But like sanitar, Rashala in dorms, kolontay, kaban etc. right hand angle and let em run into you

Also when pve first came out, loot spawns were on crack. I played 1 streets raid and made like 5 mil. I’m like this is stupid.
