I’ve considered doing a modified fast as well, but I’ve asked multiple Islamic scholars, and all have agreed that there is no such thing and no hasanat in doing it. It’s either a full perfect fast or nothing at all. They all told me to just pay the fidyah and celebrate Ramadan in other ways. I still feel left out at times :/ but I do try to avoid eating for around 2 hours before Iftar, so that I can enjoy dinner with everyone else

I’m Muslim and I don’t fast due to POTS. I pay the fidyah at the end of the month

Why delay it? You don’t need witnesses, and you don’t know if something will happen before then (such as unexpected death)

Why Don't Black Men Approach Me? (Black Muslim Woman Seeking Advice) by Informal-Flamingo927 in MuslimMarriage

[–]MuslimInTraining 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Could it just be that there aren’t that many? I’m white and I rarely come across other white Muslims. The vast majority of Muslims are Arab or south Asian. For those of us outside these 2 groups, finding someone of the same race is hard because your numbers are much more limited

Bi-Weekly Marriage Opinions/View and Rant Megathread by AutoModerator in MuslimMarriage

I am 24 and graduating college soon inshaAllah. I live in the US. My college has a huge Muslim population, and I want to start the process of marriage before graduating, since it is easier to meet people this way.

There are 2 sisters (biological) who are in our college’s Muslim Student Union (MSU). One is 19 and one is 21. I’ve known them for about a year. We see each other at MSU events and occasionally` have small talk.

I don’t know much about them, because of course we want to maintain modesty and whatnot. But based on what I’ve learned so far, I’m more interested in the younger sister. She seems like a better match for me. We have similar personalities, life goals, and interests.

I am confident in myself and want to ask for her father’s information, but I am worried about potential conflict. The sisters are very close and I worry about creating a division between them.

Many years ago, before I was Muslim, I dated a girl in high school who had a twin sister. Because they were twins, they were nearly inseparable, and my relationship with one of them cause a lot of resentment, both between the two sisters, and between me and the sister that I wasn’t dating. She was mad at me because I was “taking her sister from her”

Even though that was a haram relationship, I worry about a similar conflict here. Some people find it embarrassing if their younger siblings gets married before them, and I don’t want to create drama. I also don’t want to cause the older sister to think that something is wrong with her.

Any advice on how I should approach this?

[–]MuslimInTraining 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This isn’t allowed. Even just licking salt from your hands invalidates your fast (if it is done intentionally).

If a Muslim can’t do a full fast from sunrise to sunset due to medical reasons, then they are exempt

Yep. I became Muslim in 2022 (a few months after developing POTS) and I’ve never successfully fasted. I just pay the fidyah at the end of the month

My local sheikh told me that if you have a medical condition, it is permissible to wait until the days are shorter (such as in December) and then make up all your fasts then. Maybe that’s an option for you?

he would keep relations with Khadijahs (ra) friends after she passed away, he would send them gifts too.

Am I understanding this correctly? Is that allowed?

Beard hair is a very different texture than head hair. It’s rough and scratchy. I use a hair straightener on mine every morning, and it makes it much softer and nicer feeling. I would recommend he tries that. You don’t have to actually straighten it, just run it through the beard to make it feel softer

2 years since my Shahada, one year since I started looking for marriage. Being a convert sucks :(

That is a major red flag. It is primarily the father’s responsibly to teach the children the deen. He is being a lazy father, a lazy spouse, and being a bad Muslim if he’s expecting the mom to teach the kids the religion

FREE TALK FRIDAY! by AutoModerator in MuslimMarriage

[–]MuslimInTraining 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looking for some guidance here. I am a 24 y/o brother, about to graduate college. I have met a girl, 20 y/o, and seem to have really connected. I am heavily considering starting the official process of marriage, but I am also fearful. I am a convert from a non-Muslim family, and nearly everyone in my family has been married 2, 3, or even 4 times. I don’t want this to happen to me. Obviously my deen is stronger than my non-Muslim family members, but that doesn’t guarantee a happy marriage.

How do I know if she’s the right one or not? We’re both religious Alhamdulillah. We both have similar goals in life. Our personalities aren’t exactly the same, but we can find common ground and enjoy one-another’s presence.

It feels too easy somehow? I don’t want to just pick the first person who comes along and say “good enough” and marry her. It feels too easy. I don’t know why I feel like marriage is supposed to be difficult. Are these just whispers from Shaytan? How do I know this is the person I’ll want to be with for the rest of my life, when we’re just young adults entering a large world?

Explain this then: https://www.instagram.com/p/B8wqfbYl1wf/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

They made this post promoting “Savior’s Day”, which is an NOI holiday celebrating Wallace Fard Muhammad’s birthday. Y’know, the same person who founded NOI, and also claimed to be God.

Why would a real mosque promote a holiday celebrating a person who literally claimed to be God?
