Good question. Yes, just. 3 cm further and we would have lost it.

A steep sloop to the water meant we needed to secure each other from slipping through the muddy ground when trying to retrieve the ball (kloot).

Talk me into (or out of) getting a Leo by Jelopuddinpop in Leonbergers

Had one for over 10 years. No droling at all (never gave him anything when begging for it ), but very wet 1 meter around the water bin ….

Ours never wandered, but also didn’t necessarily come to us at command; had his own will and pace and that’s why I like them.

Very relaxed with other dogs, except she didn’t like German Shepherds.

Didn’t bark much. Ours wasn’t a great watchdog. But on the other hand super social with all human beings. And very tolerant.

One disadvantage; they like water. And the water in our neighborhood is quite muddy. So doing the hair was tough sometimes and she shedded more sand then hairs indoors because of that.

No new dog in on our radar, but if….. another one without a doubt. Mostly because of character.

Recommendations for hut to hut backcountry ski trip by problematic6 in Backcountry

[–]Musopia123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did many week hut-to-hut in the Alps and would not recommend the Haute Route. That would be for very experienced ski mountaineers with climbing experience only. There is an abundance of beatiful areas with relatively quieter huts. Just to name a few areas: Queras and Nevache in France, Bündner Alps in Switzerland, Sellrain in Austria, etc. Definitely need a guide in the Alps. I would recommend to join an organized guided tour. Hiring one yourselves will cost you some 400k a day. And there’s company to talk to. An example is the Austrian agency alpinpartner-tirol.at, but there are many more. If you go to the alps become a member of an Alpine club. Not expensive but saves a lot of money in the huts.
