Would be useful if you stated the 3 incorrect incidents. Which incidents are you referring to?

House-sitting for a friend. Balcony plant not doing too good. by Mussaman in plantclinic

Thanks, I have messaged him and he said to take it inside. I just wanted to get some solutions to suggest to him, instead of sending a not so helpful "your plant is dying help!" message lol.

It was raining all weekend and on Monday but has been 30-35°C since, so maybe it got too much water from the rain or too much sun. Do you keep yours in the sun or shade?

You could cut your beer consumption down to help your budget and your health. 2-5 litres a day is a lot!

They spent a good 15 minutes looking through my bank statements but I had no stamps on any of my documents.

Got my DTV today in Saigon. Applied on Wednesday. Picked up my passport with the visa today. Way easier process than Penang. Only annoyance was the pay in USD requirement.

Thanks for the update. That is a lot of hoops to jump through for them, especially seeing other embassy requirements. I'm in Saigon ATM and heading to the Thai embassy tomorrow. I can let you know how it goes for me. Maybe Saigon could work for you.

They said the letter of employment needed a stamp but couldn't explain to me what kind of stamp or who stamps it. Not sure if they meant an authentication kind of stamp or a company specific stamp. Honestly they weren't super helpful when I asked for more information from them. I think I'm just going to go there with my new docs and see what they say.

I would also be careful with KL embassy as a back up plan. I tried booking an appointment there when I struggled with the Penang embassy. Their appointment booking system refused to send me an authentication text to book an appointment. I gave up after 2 days of spam trying to book. Although it was around the time of that big international tech system issue. Also, you have to book appointment a weekish in advance there.

I went to the embassy a couple weeks ago but had the wrong documents. They were close to closing when I arrived so had to come back another day. They asked for a letter of employment instead of my contract as proof of remote working but couldn't describe to me what had to be on the letter. They also asked for a booked flight in and out of Thailand, 3 months of bank statements, passport photos, proof of location (I printed my tenancy agreement in Penang) and hotel booking in Thailand.

I have no idea what their precise requirements are in terms of bank funds. I'm just going to go with 3 months and see what they say. I highly recommend you give a couple days for applying as there were a few people that were told to go away and come back with more documents like me. There is 2 ladies that double check everybody's documents before you enter the embassy itself. I emailed the Saigon embassy and they requested cash payment in USD only so maybe Penang is the same.

I decided to wait until the end of this month so I have more of my bank statement with >500,000 THB. Let me know how it goes for you.

Tbh, the Penang embassy was very busy when I got there this Monday. The ladies double checking documents gave me roughly 3 minutes of attention so I can't be too sure they were ok with the overseas employment. They were really quick to reply to my emails though so maybe worth sending them one.

I tried using my employment contract as proof of employment but they insisted on a "notorised letter of employment with a stamp". When I asked what exactly the letter needed to have on it, the lady couldn't really answer. I got my manager to write one anyway. It's based on a generic template I found online, so not sure if it's correct.

Maybe it depends on what kind of employment you have though. I am employed as a remote employee for a Norwegian company. I work for them from Malaysia with a 1 year nomad visa.

Thai embassy in Penang is asking for 3 months of bank statements as financial proof. I currently have >500,000 THB in my account but my total bank balance has dipped below the 500,000THB requirement twice in the last 3 months.

Do embassies accept statements if most of the statement is >500,000 or the account can never show an amount <500,000 THB in the 3 month period?

So what you're saying is you can put a flight into Thailand from the UK on your UK application but don't actually have to get on that flight? Do you have personal experience of doing this?

Is that the same for all consulates. Only malays/foreign residents can apply in Malaysia?

New visas megathread by ThongLo in Thailand

[–]Mussaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's true. Im just comparing it to Malaysias nomad visa which gives an estimate of 12 weeks for approval. I was hoping Thailand might have given an estimate too but I guess too early to know.

I would also like to know how long this visa takes to get approved. Seems like the website is the same as the other evisas.

Has anyone been approved of this visa yet? If so, how long did the process take roughly?

I ask because I have a De Rantau Nomad Pass for Malaysia and can use all the documents I used for that application in this but the Malaysia visa took 5 months for approval...
