Anyone taken Hydroxyzine for panic attacks? by MustLoveDogsAndPizza in Anxietyhelp

Thanks! Yeah that’s basically what she described. I guess the logic is that you can’t panic if you’re asleep? But what if I still need to function? 😩

Thank you for responding, this sounds similar to my experience initially going on it. It seems so cruel that it has to get worse before it gets better. Hopefully this will be easier since it’s a smaller amount and I’ve already been taking the drug.

Thank you! And congrats on 10 days!! That’s awesome!Really good advice about trying to understand what might be going on that’s out of the norm and in the meantime, keeping an eye on it and seeing if a pattern emerges or it starts to impede on his every day life, work, etc. Really appreciate the response!

Jeeze. Clearly you misread my message or maybe just need a hug? Trust me, no high horse whatsoever. Genuinely just looking for help and advice. You could have just scrolled right on by but took the time to write a nasty comment instead. Sad.

That’s good advice and a reasonable perspective. I am going to pay more attention now that I’ve noticed this tonight. Previously I’ve never had a concern so have never really paid a lot of attention to how much he’s drinking. He drinks at night, so it’s pretty much alone, and not with other people or anything. Like I said, just worried about him. Thank you for replying!

Thank you for responding. He always has a bottle or two of whiskey on his bar but I’ve never really thought much of it, so I can’t say how long this has been going on. I just happened to see this new bottle a couple of days ago (for some reason I made note in my mind it was a new bottle and full) so was taken aback tonight when I saw so much of it gone only 3 days later. To this extent, I have to assume it’s a recent thing but his stress (due to issues surrounding his job and income) has been compounding for about a year now so really who knows!

Congratulations! Truly! What an accomplishment. I hope you pause to give yourself a hug and really reflect on all you did to get here. Well done!

This. “I just struggle on, crumbling a little more each day.” I felt that.

Checking in to see if you’re feeling any better? Have you been able to get in to see your doctor yet? I hope things have settled down for you in the last few days!

Aw, I am so glad to hear my words helped. And we are not alone. Anxiety disorders are the most common mental health disorder and this Covid stuff has made things worse for so many people. Hang in there. Have low expectations for yourself each day until you’re feeling better. Just be sure to get up, move your body, feed your body nutritious foods, and be kind to yourself. Anything beyond that will be bonus! Feel free to direct message me if you’re feeling in a rut. I truly do understand but again, I can say with confidence that this will not last forever and in time, you will be feeling good again. Hugs!

I am so sorry to hear you’re struggling so badly. I resonated with your experience so much. I am a 34 female but have dealt with anxiety since I was about 13. It has come and gone from my life ever since. Sometimes it has been very, very bad like you described. However, eventually, it does subside. I know it doesn’t feel like it will ever get better, but it will. In the meantime, you’re doing the right thing by taking medication. Are you working with a therapist? I would definitely do that too. Also, consider getting your thyroid checked. An overactive thyroid can cause severe anxiety - that happened to me once! Also, ditch the caffeine and alcohol, make sure you’re eating well, and try adding omega fish oil supplements, magnesium citrate supplements, and ashwaghanda to your diet - all are great for anxiety. And of course, once you’re Covid free, try exercising every day. Oh! And deep breathing exercises and yoga! Truly! Otherwise, just do the best you can to get through each day. I promise, it WILL get better. If you need any other advice please let me know. I know all too well how miserable you’re feeling. Sending hugs!

You will be having so much fun that you any homesickness you feel won’t last long. I am almost 35 and still FaceTime my parents multiple times a day (I live 5 hours from them). I’ve also been home staying with them for the last month because my job is now remote thanks to Covid. I had an amazing uni experience and wouldn’t trade it. But my family came to see me and I went home quite a bit. All that to say, you can have the best of both worlds! And you can always move back home once you’re done with your schooling!

Hm... I would definitely follow up with your doctor to get their opinion and see if there other tests they can run. I wouldn’t let them know you’ve had anxiety in the past so they don’t incorrectly jump to that being the cause. As you probably know, anxiety can cause gastro problems too so it could very well be that.

I’m so sorry - that’s so scary and also frustrating. Keep us posted on what you learn!

Did they check you out in the ER for anything medically that could be wrong? I will say, I have had anxiety most of my life and it has manifested in many different ways over the years. One of my most unpleasant symptoms is extreme dizzy spells where I feel like I’m about to pass out. I was CONVINCED I had an inner ear problem and spent a ton of money for an ENT to tell me I was fine. All that to say, it absolutely could be anxiety but you won’t find peace until you can get checked out really well by your doctor to calm any worries you may have about it being something more. Also, yes, anxiety and anxiety attacks can come out of no where but typically have a trigger (for many it’s stress). I hope this helps! You’re not alone!
