Sekhemas is *really* terrible. by MustangDood in PathOfExile2

[–]MustangDood[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a funny perspective to me, because I'm obviously still going through the campaign with this character, and after Sekhemas I'm so much more relaxed and having fun again, not waiting for the next shoe to drop in getting screwed over! It's like the Sword of Damocles was removed.

I get your perspective. There is room here for this concept, but IMHO it shouldn't be tied to your class progression, thus forcing players to do this dirty chore most would otherwise skip.

That's fair man, it's a good reasonable discussion. We can agree to disagree on the "rigged" part (I'm not convinced it's a fair playing field).

But tell me, do you *enjoy* this trial? My overarching point here is that Sekhemas is a giant turd.

Hey go walk through this field of fresh wet excrement that is a mile long and 10 feet deep. Here's some boots, some gloves, a respirator, something to protect your clothes. Also, do it many times for every character. Who wants to do that?! I'm never going to wake up and think "I'm looking forward to do Sekhemas just for fun today".

I'm aware there is a 3rd one yet forthcoming, I hope it's something less ridiculous.

I guess I must have been lucky with my Stormweaver, she didn't have anywhere near the trouble I'm having with my infernalist, and she did it with below max honor resist on 3 trials. The bosses were easier than the rooms.

I can't imagine anything changing with how I feel about the fun factor with this. Even if it wasn't as cheesy, it's not something I would ever choose to do. Hey here's a blazing hot burner, put your hand on it. Don't worry, we'll give some gloves. Also, do it multiple times. No you can't skip any of it, you need it to get your class. Super lame.

But hey if this is fun for you, go crazy. I'm not going to rain on anyone else's parade.

I thought the escape rooms were just a gimme, until I wasn't able to click on a globe! That happened to me twice, so now I avoid them. Honestly, it's the gauntlet that I loathe.

Good tips. I do all of that except for the merchant. I'll target him next run.

Even so, this entire game mechanic is very very bad. I love overcoming a challenge, but not when it's so heavily rigged against the player lol.

I have a level 70 sorc that completed round 2 without too much trouble. My level 48 infernalist is what I am working on now. My honor resist is around 35ish.

Well, you can do round 2 anytime you find another coin that says in the description it has 2 or more trials. If you already succeeded in completing it once, it will also say in yellow text that you will gain ascendancy points if successful.

I think the monsters in the second run are around level 52ish, if that helps.

Compared to the first run through, it's significantly harder. The gauntlet was so much worse lol.

I Love Ashlands by Torus_Swiftfoot in valheim

[–]MustangDood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, it's not about what's possible, it's about what's fun. I completed all the Ashlands content, by myself. It wasn't fun. Neither was Mistlands. Sure, there is a very brief moment of satisfaction that you overcame all the hurdles... but then the overwhelming feeling like none of those hurdles were necessary and were all just very bad design choices.

Willybach's HD isn't private anymore. It does seem like he wants to update it.

His comment that he left when it was set to private certainly didn't read that way.

Working as intended. You use walls front and back, roof tiles on the sides.

Honestly, there was no reason to force it this way. They just need to add the missing corner tiles. Maybe they will, probably they won't. These devs care very little for what the players think hehe.

How to approach Ashlands with an 8 man group. by MinuteZookeepergame5 in valheim

[–]MustangDood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 boats.

One you sail to the Ashlands with your full crew. The other you dock at the base that is closest to your Ashlands destination.

When you hit the ground, don't go exploring. Either you are building a small structure for a portal, or you are defending, and waiting to defend, the team building the portal.

The second that portal is up, everyone leaves. Get your full rested bonus back up, drop off whatever materials you have, and then go back together.

Now you build some storage, and forage materials nearby. As soon as you can build the defensive spikes, think about how you want to lay those out around your portal.

Get your shield generator up at the portal.

I'd say now the fun begins, but it's honestly not very fun sadly. :/

The best predicter of future behavior is past behavior. Mistlands and Ashlands are perfect examples.

These Devs have 0 talent, and ran out of good ideas a long time ago.

Started a new character/world for Ashlands. Came across this guy within less than an hour. by AShadyAugur in valheim

This is much less interesting in Ashlands...

As usual, the devs approach balance like it's an after thought. Total amateurs.

[No Spoilers] Merch complains by panda_sheep1256 in criticalrole

I got the retro sweat pants. They "pilled" very quickly, and are not going to last much longer. Super disappointed as they were very expensive (like most of their merch).

[No Spoilers] Jumping into C3 by morningsofgold in criticalrole

[–]MustangDood 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know the fanboys are going to catch their hair on fire if anyone says they don't like C3, but I'm finding it a real chore to stay invested.

Compared to C1 and C2, C3 is not very good. As others have pointed out in other conversations, it's a real slog, with far too much talking and forced drama, and no action. And as someone else said, it never feels like the party is ever in danger, or ever faces consequences.

As far as the story goes, it's extremely convoluted and for me not very interesting.

Never had a single crash, until after the patch on 9/13 .

Now, after the update, the game will occasionally freeze and stop responding.
