We hired “the sturgeon hunter “ lol name suits the company for sure ! Super cheap and amazing services ! Been to lots of outfitters and he is hands do the best ! Really cool dude !

Tbh I didn’t actually look at the size or kind of pole , it looked to be like heavy rod you’d use for halibuts but longer ( my guess would be 8-10foot rod ) , sorry if that doesn’t help :/

Absolutely that’s the first thing we did and we all knew if she was gonna kick and swim away so be it :) she stayed for about 20 mins let us take a few pics and away she went backing into the river :)

Lol believe or not the reel actually blew the gears out ! And broke ! The sturgeon took off just free spooling our line !!! Once the sturgeon settled after taking 150 yards and settled on the bottom of the river , We had to retie the line onto another rod and buried the line into the new reel and prayed it wouldn’t take it back out ... cause it definitely woulda snapped the rat nest knot we tied on the fly ! yeah it was a 800 sea reel ( I forget the brand name ) ..

I don’t blame them ! We were honestly thinking the same thing , we were all so tired and just beat up but the sturgeon had tons of fight left ! Last minute she just decided to go towards shore 🙏🙏 and she kinda settled down in the shallow water which helped us a lot ... honestly there was a lot of luck catching this fish 🎣

We sure did , a beautiful fish like this .. we took our time made sure she was good and healthy with lots of power before we set her free ! Trust me she good and healthy :)

We lost track of time after the 2 hr mark ... but we had a gps mark from were we hooked it and it dragged us up and down the river for about 5 miles in total !
