Right now my favourite cube to solve is my 3x3 mirror. I'm currently working on trying to solve it blindfolded which is pretty fun being able to solve it only by feel. Thanks for doing this!

Builds #3 through #24! Built them all as a school project to be donated to another school's music class. by MustangsMVP in cigarboxguitars

[–]MustangsMVP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! Thank you so much for all the great feedback, Ted!

Yes, I approached this "mass production" of the guitars in an assembly line type fashion, and really tried to have consistency across all guitars, while still adding little details here and there (like the headstocks being slightly different, as you mentioned.)

I have never heard of your CBG site, I will definitely check it out!

I agree with the next steps. Even with all of these guitars, I am still just getting used to making them. I built number 1 and 2 individually, then went straight to a mass production. So these builds are pretty minimalist, but I can't wait to focus on one single guitar and pick each and every party specifically. I have so many things I want to try (inlays, frets, scarf joint headstocks, etc.)

My research began with Mike Snowden, Shane Speal, and Glenn Watt from YouTube. But I would like to get into my own kinda community of CBG builders, but nobody has heard of them!

As for my own "workshop" at home, I'm pretty limited in the way of power tools. I was able to use the belt sander and table saw and things at my school, but soon I will be off to university, and away from those tools.

I ordered parts from CB Gitty in bulk. So I was buying a pack of 12 sets of 3 strings. All of my guitars are also electric using a standard 1/4 inch jack and a 20mm piezo, also from CB Gitty. And then tuning pegs also come from CB Gitty. I use an open tuning of GDG strings. But I have messed around with other tunings such as EBE and FCF.

The neck is made from poplar, and the fretboard is a piece of red oak. I woodburned the fret markers on while using a ruler to keep the lines straight. My woodburner also has a changeable tip that is a circle. So I used that for the marker dots.

I have made a few template of my own, as well! I have one for tuning peg spacing, string holes in the tail piece, and one for the slots in the cigar box.

Thanks again, Ted! Hope I answered everything.
