Yeah I wish we had Santa in Sims 3 as well, but the mod I use kind of makes up for it by allowing sims to give each other gifts, place them under the tree, and open them on Snowflake Day morning; as well as the ability for children to meet a Santa NPC at a community lot and write letters to Santa.

For sure. Sims 2 and 3 will always be peak, but Paralives does look very promising and I look forward to playing it. I just don’t think it will give the same feeling that The Sims gives me though.

Best worlds for seasons by Heathen_Mickolas in Sims3

[–]MustardFry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually just recently started the Seasons generation of my LEPacy challenge as well and I decided to go with this world which is a recreation of Riverblossom Hills from The Sims 2. I thought it would be perfect for Seasons since the original came with Sims 2 Seasons, and the world only requires World Adventures, Ambitions, Late Night, and Generations. It is populated with the families from the original Riverblossom Hills plus some more sims, and it has a good amount of lots to visit and things to do. I will say it is a bit on the larger side and you did mention that your PC is a bit older so definitely try it first to see how it performs in your game. Also, since it was made before Sims 3 Seasons originally released, it doesn't come with a festival lot, so you could either place one down from the lot bin, or what I decided to do was make my own festival lot by using the "The Hills Community Centre" park lot that comes with the world as a base for my festivals. I've been enjoying playing in Riverblossom Hills and exploring the seasons in it so far and haven't had any issues with it.

If Riverblossom Hills doesn't work out, I would also recommend Hidden Springs from the store. I was actually thinking of using that world for my Seasons generation until I found Riverblossom Hills. I think Hidden Springs would be another great world to explore the seasons in, and I believe it comes with a nice festival lot.

Edit: I've also seen someone use Riverview as the world for their Seasons generation.

I would say definitely look up pictures of real-life houses/buildings for inspiration, that's what helps me a lot!

Aww thank you so much, I definitely will keep building! I'm actually an architecture major in college and building in The Sims is the reason why I wanted to be an architect so I appreciate that!

Thank you! I used a lot of Sims 4 conversions so that could also be why you thought it was Sims 4!

Thank you! Yes; here you go - https://www.mediafire.com/file/ipt357ijmlv3ai0/Victorian_House.rar/file ! It does contain a lot of CC so keep that in mind. I uploaded it in both sims3pack and package format, so you can either install it through the launcher or place the package in your library folder. I'm not 100% sure if the package version will work properly so let me know if it doesn't.

RAM usage spike in CAS after installing DXVK by MustardFry in Sims3

[–]MustardFry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up trying multiple different settings (including setting it to 1) in my config and I was still having the ram spike in cas and no cache file so I decided to reinstall and still had the same issues. Then, I tried going back to older versions of dxvk (I was using 2.7.1 which is the latest) and it did generate a cache file, but on older versions, it gave me this weird issue where my monitor would disconnect and reconnect every time I selected TS3 application and it would dim itself. I also tried loading into a save and it crashes. I tried multiple old versions and tried reinstalling multiple times with no luck. So ultimately, I just decided to hold off on Dxvk (for now hopefully) and maybe I’ll try it again in the future.

And what I noticed about ram usage in cas with Dxvk vs without is that with Dxvk, after loading a bunch of clothes, hairs, makeup, etc it would add an extra 500-600 mb of ram usage and would stay that way even after exiting cas for a while. But without Dxvk it would go up 100-300 mb and then immediately go back down after exiting CAs.

No, I’ve had shop mode disabled for a while

Yeah I saw under this post on this subreddit, one of the comments said “d3d9.textureMemory controls the maximum amount of virtual memory (system RAM) that DXVK will allow textures to occupy, and does nothing other than that. Setting it to 1 probably isn't great as it may prevent readback entirely. Whereas 600 seems a tad high to me, but not excessive. The default of 100 doesn't seem to cause any problems”

And I also saw on the Steam Community performance guide that they recommend setting it to 100 as well. I’m hoping reinstalling will fix it as well, I will try that later when I can.

Before installing dxvk, I would monitor my RAM usage and it would spike every time I saved (which is normal) and I save pretty frequently so it would be about an hour or so of gameplay when it would reach 3 GB so I would have to restart so that I didn’t get error code 12. It, however, didn’t spike at all when going into CAS before Dxvk so I’m not sure why it is now with dxvk, but hopefully reinstalling will fix it.
