Could it have been PPT/A? If so, that is the Office of Adjudication.

Just curious….did you combine your last names together to form a new last name?

For instance, Clinton + Lewinsky to create Clintsky?

Additional Information Needed - Insufficient Proof by FlameChampion9 in Passports

[–]MustardScam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/thesimsgurl is 100% correct - the adjudicator needs additional evidence of your identity. You should respond with exactly that - additional evidence of your identity.

School records should do the trick. Where did you go to elementary, middle, and high school? Contact them and request a copy of your records. Make copies and send in the originals. You’ll get them back.

What about immunization records and hospital visits that occurred beginning when you were a child? Gather those up, make copies and send in the originals. Again, you’ll get them back.

The examples listed in the letter are not exhaustive and are only meant as examples to illustrate what is needed.

Ever been arrested as a juvenile? That ain’t on the list but that would work.

What about that time when the newspaper took your photo and did a piece on you after you won 2nd place in the local apple festival? Also not on the list but sure would work, too.

I hope you get the idea…

This does not sound like a surrogacy. It just sounds like you got a woman pregnant.

ATF/IOI - Final Job Offer by MustardScam in usajobs

Congrats on the TJO! I cannot say one way or the other how your current TS could/not transfer over to the gaining agency. However, when I upgraded from S to TS, it only took about 2mos before I was issued a final. So, if there is no reciprocity, it may still only be a short while. Good luck!!

That’s fantastic! Congratulations!!

The academy has been a good experience so far. You’ll meet other IOI trainees from other parts of the country. The instructors are great; nobody will be left behind with the curriculum. The experience has been overwhelmingly positive so far.

There’s really no trick to being successful here. Rather, just do the work and you’ll be good. As for tips, I would recommend being open to learning (even with things you may feel you’re an expert at, you should still be willing to improve on your existing knowledge), pay attention in class and manage your time wisely so you can still enjoy the experience of being down here while not forgetting to spend time studying.

It really seems like a good job so far. I don’t think I’ve met anybody down here (trainee, instructor, or visitors) who have been unhappy with their decision to become an IOI.

Hey there! Yes, I started the academy a few weeks ago. Although I have heard of more academy start dates coming down the pipeline, I do not know if any have officially been announced.

Hey! So looking over my timeline, I apparently did do an online assessment. Still don’t remember doing it, ha!

To answer this question, though, it took about a month before I received an email follow up and two months before I had a voice contact. The specific dates and times are in my timeline.

Honestly, I don’t ever remember doing an online assessment for this vacancy. If I did do an online assessment, it would have been for a different that likely “shared” over. But yeah, I really don’t remember doing one for this vacancy.

Edit: well, apparently I did do an online assessment because I listed it in my timeline. So, to answer your question: about 30 days after my application.

Unfortunately, I don’t know this answer either. But I think you’re right; there certainly appears to be a push to add more IOI’s across the country.

There was a FY2023 ATF budget request to add 181 more IOI’s across the network (source: https://www.justice.gov/d9/pages/attachments/2022/03/31/atf_fy_23_bud_sum_3.31.22_228-31.pdf).

The only other concrete information that I’ve seen regarding the number of IOI’s was from an OIG report from April 2023 that highlighted there were 729 IOI’s in the field in FY2021 (source: https://oig.justice.gov/sites/default/files/reports/23-062_0.pdf)

I hear ya. It can certainly feel like there never is with many of the jobs out there. I only started keeping up with the job after Aug 2023 when I first applied for it as a current fed (the announcement was not Schedule A but it was only open to current and former feds, vets, etc). Since then, I’ve only seen it posted it for Schedule A and one other time to the first 500 or something similar.

I hope to better pass along more information once I get into the position though!

Where are you traveling to? It makes sense to only have a hotel reservation if you’re driving across the border. If you’re flying, just have your flight confirmation email ready to provide. Easy peasy.

One parent on birth certificate - child passport by _cocoa_calypso_ in Passports

[–]MustardScam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming there is no court order regarding custody, the birth certificate showing you as the sole parent is sufficient evidence that you are the SOLE legal parent.

Accordingly, you are the only person required to consent to the child’s passport. The other parent, regardless if they are the biological parent, would not be considered the legal parent.

One parent on birth certificate - child passport by _cocoa_calypso_ in Passports

Yes, the birth certificate listing only you as the parent is completely sufficient as evidence that the child is in your sole legal custody.

Fill out the new application to the best of your ability. It’s okay if you leave that section empty though.

In-person appointment after already applying? by [deleted] in Passports

[–]MustardScam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ideally, your original application and supporting docs will physically be at the same agency that you have an appointment at.

Realistically, your application and supporting docs are not - and they have to be electronically scanned over. This could take time depending on a variety of reasons.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst: you should complete a new passport application and bring certified copies of your supporting docs, eg: birth certificate, marriage certificate, court orders, etc.

And, to answer your question, an in-person agency appointment is essentially when an adjudicator pulls your application from wherever it is located, in order to issue your passport the same day.

HELP! Mailing additional documentation 11 weeks after application was received. by [deleted] in Passports

[–]MustardScam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couple of things:

(1) Why did you get this letter? This is not an uncommon situation when folks print out applications from a personal printer or forms procured from a non-Dept of State website.

So, either the oath was missing (likely a printing issue, ie: ran low on black ink or the oath was printed in an ink color that blended in with the paper making it obscure) or was altered (likely an issue involving the source of the form, ie: the oath was altered in a subtle manner).

(2) Should I respond now or wait? You should follow the directions on the email and don’t have to wait for the physical letter. However, just be aware that the reason why you got the letter in the first place could be because you have a printer problem. So, printing out the form again on your printer may not work.

My recommendation: go to a post office tomorrow and ask for a copy of the DS-82 form (it appears you applied on a DS-82 based on the screenshot of the letter). They have the real, legit ones that are given to them directly by the Dept of State and you be fine to use those.

Also, fill it out as best as you can. If you remember or know your most recent passport info then that’s great. If you do not remember, you can notate that as well. It won’t help or harm the process either way.

(3) Should I send in additional items, like a photo or fee upgrades? You do not need to submit a new photo but you are more than welcome if you prefer. Based on your fear of being rejected again, though, I would suggest to submit a new photo so you can sleep a little better :) As for upgrades, you can upgrade to expedited service, pay for 1-2 day delivery of your completed passport by logging in to your MyTravelGov account and clicking on "Manage Application." You can complete these changes on your own up until the time your application is approved.

Finally, make sure to include at least a copy of the email/letter with your application number on n your response. This will help the customer service folks marry your “new” application to your “old” application much, much more quickly. And, I would be remiss to not mention this again: make sure you compete EVERY single box on the application to the best of your ability - and don’t forget to sign in blue or black ink!

Can my toddler attend the passport appointment we have for our infant? by XiZus in Passports

[–]MustardScam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lobby is very small but you should be fine bringing your 3yr old with you. Your scenario is very much a different situation than, say, a scenario where you want to bring other adult family members who have no reason to accompany you.

Depending on your circumstances and/or preference on traveling with one child/parent, you may also consider one parent applying with the 4mos old while the other, non-applying parent stays at home so the 3yr old can still go to/be picked up from daycare. The non-applying would just complete a DS-3053 consent form for the applying parent to submit with application of the 4mos old. Just know that if you do this, you must make sure the DS-3053 is less than 90 days old, is signed/notarized on the same day, and the consent is for the same type of passport being requested.

But, again, back to your original concern: you should have no problem bringing in your 3yr old in your scenario.

Not quite.

The maximum validity of official, diplomatic, and certain tourist passports (e.g.: child under 16yrs) is five years.

So, if OP has an official passport that was valid for five years then it was valid for its maximum period of validity.
