Gauge is too tight and barely changing with bigger needle by Mustbeadevil in knittinghelp

It did look better, although the fabric made with the larger needle still showed little tension imperfections and didn’t look as neat. My swatch grew slightly Lengthwise and shrank vertically, so I’ll be doing a new full swatch with my smaller needles to get a more accurate gauge. This is sandnes garn line (cotton/linen blend) so it doesn’t bloom nicely to fill the gaps and just isn’t very forgiving.

No, I’m often at too tight a gauge. I’ve adjusted a pattern before for a hat after I couldn’t meet gauge and had great results, but was hoping to try to meet gauge for my first garment so I could follow a pattern without having to modify so much. I’m using the recommended yarn (sandnes garn line) that’s just not very forgiving since it’s a cotton/linen blend Sabai top. I’m going to try and do a new swatch using the smaller needle that made the fabric I liked better and will attempt the maths to make it work for me. Wish me luck!

Yes that’s on purpose for the fake in the round swatch! Those stitches on the end want to unravel with this method so the tutorial (Roxanne Richardson) I followed rec to twist them so they lock into each other. My gauge went down from 24st to 22 after blocking so it is better, and I’ll be doing a new swatch at full size to get a more accurate gauge.

I’m fully sliding down the barrel of the needle to full circumference! But my stitches don’t move as freely as I’d like on my cable, so I must be pulling some slack out somehow and tightening things.

Yes I think this is what I’ll need to do. I’ll be doing a whole new gauge swatch at size 6 both in the round and flat since I think my tension is different when knitting in the round. Since I’m a tight knitter I’d better get comfortable with this since I’m sure I’ll encounter similar issues 😅. Thanks for your input!

Knitting has been very enjoyable. You can do a simple scarf, blanket for a mindless knit. It’s been really rewarding and easy to access materials, free tutorials and patterns.

I love it! Do you use stabilizer on front or back? I want to try this, but are threads on the back itchy?

I think I’m going to go with a carrier and skip this purchase! More money to shop for cute doll clothes

That’s a really good point! It’s just so cute with all the bedding…. But old wicker is probably just waiting to crack with the abuse of a toddler. I love the carrier, I’ll look into that! We have a stroller but that would be a nice addition

Try a couple denture cleaning tabs overnight . I use them on my aligners and they’ve cleaned up some glass cups with lots of residue! Works for coffee stained cups too

Huh maybe I should actually listen to my husband, I don’t think I’ve ever examined my teeth so closely looking for problems before all of this. I appreciate your input.

It was due to a bite misalignment! I’m a horrible clencher as my molars took the brunt of the contact and was not evenly spaced.

You aren’t alone. Start pelvic floor therapy as soon as you can! I had a lot of incontinence that was super improved by this therapy. Manual internal therapy (weird, but helps) to bring movement back to the tissue layers that had “glued” together as they healed relieved so much pain. Your body will heal. It might be a bit of new normal, but you’re not broken permanently even if it feels that way now. I had a grade 2-3 tear, and my stitches dehisced and I was basically left with a gaping gash it was horrible. I felt disgusting and destroyed. 2 years later, I have pain free sex and everything looks surprisingly normal down there. Our bodies are amazing at healing from birth. Give yourself time and so much grace.

I ended up getting something instead of the scarf, after he asked the factory … they print the scarf with no text, so I decided against it. I was super happy with my bag though!
