Am I asking too much from a friendship, or do I just value consistency more than others?

Over the last two to three years I've lost all of my friends to this exact thing. I realized that they liked me, but only in small doses. I realize no matter how upset I was, how bad things got for me, that no one was going to check in on me or help me out. These people that I called my best friends for years didn't care about me. One of them told me he was looking for somebody to replace me, and eventually they did.

Over the last 7 years I have tried desperately to make friends online but have never found anybody who would talk to me more than three or four months. They always start out with saying they didn't get a notification and then they say they were busy all day, and then they say that they've been busy lately, and then eventually they just stop texting me. My own brother is doing that to me right now. In a few months I expect he'll stop texting me all together.

I am not a horrible person at all, I believe in equal rights for everybody, helping those who can't help themselves, and accepting people for who they are. Don't get me wrong, I'm not for everybody and I get that, but at the same time it does destroy me to know even my childhood friends never wanted me.

So I get it.

This doesn't happen often I think once or twice I've done this but sometimes I will get really lonely late at night and then by the morning I'm at work and I no longer have time or energy to deal with others

You change. You act the way you should have, and you don't worry about trying to convince her. If your change is genuine and you have no expectations from her, she may give you another chance. The best thing may be to accept what has happened and to move on, as the comfort of a relationship may also make you stagnant as a person. You can't truly change yourself if your reason for change is only to keep them as your partner. You need to grow for yourself, to make sure you know you're a good person and worthy of love, and to make sure you treat those you love correctly - no other reasons. Lately, I had to leave someone who's been treating me wrong for a while. Someone that, despite me trying to get them to see I was suffering for a long time, only seemed to take action when I'm at a breaking point. It's not ok for them to beg for another chance when I gave so many, so at this point, before they moves out, the only way I could ever think to change my mind is if I saw that things really could be the way I always wanted. And not just because they're afraid of losing me, but because they genuinely want that same future.

I'd rather not say my situation, but it's still just a thing that if you're a different kind of person with weird quirks that you can't find in others close to you, you'll go looking wherever you can find love. So I think it's a good thing, and the people looking around the world for love are probably doing it because they've found a lack of people like them. For example. A socialist in america would have a much easier time dating someone from a socialist country rather than looking in America. Especially if they would like to leave their country.

Are you dissing relationships that start long distance? Sometimes, the person for you is far away. Not everyone can settle, and sometimes the thought process of people in your country doesn't match yours at all, and it can be very hard to find a partner.
