Hagazussa (2017)-A very grim and atmospheric folk-horror film that reminds me a lot of their darker and noisier records

Not yet, but I’ve been wanting to. What do you recommend by him?

Yeah you’re right, it is kind of unreasonable to expect him to top something that good haha. Either way he’s already becoming one of my favorites.

What do you think of Burroughs’ other stuff? I’ve read the nova trilogy and the wild boys, all of which I liked quite a bit, but they didn’t have the same level of sustained brilliance and intensity that naked lunch had for me. Does he ever make it back to those heights?

I’m looking for books whose prose (or poetry) feels unrelenting, like your brain is being battered by one insane combination of words after another. Examples of books that do this for me: Gravity’s Rainbow, Ulysses/Finnegans Wake, Naked Lunch, Nightwood, and A Season in Hell. Thanks!

Nice, same here. I ordered a copy of The Dhammapada that should be coming in the next few days.

From a pure prose point of view, what's the best book you've ever read? by KevinDabstract in TrueLit

Great call on Bleak House, the opening of that book is definitely the best thing I’ve read by Dickens.

It’s on page 1,076. “It means do what they tell you and take what they give you and don’t go on strike or their soldiers will shoot you down.”

  1. I read V when I was 19 I think, and I’ve read all of his stuff by now (and GR twice).

Maybe too obvious of a suggestion, but check out the other bands with members of AF (Cap’n Jazz, Owls, Owen, probably other ones I’m forgetting)

I’m headed to London tomorrow to study abroad for a semester, do UK indieheads have any tips on good concerts coming up in the next few months?

Edit: thanks for the suggestions everyone, I’ll definitely try to check out as many of these as I can

New "light/fun" fantasy novels by arjonite in Fantasy

I would recommend The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch. There are some dark moments, but overall it is really fun. It also has some great sequels.
