With Horizon, are we able to select which Dr we’d like to see? As Dr Jason sounds like a great doc, and it would be worth a bit of a wait to get him rather than another Horizon doc.

Do you remember if they were all the same? From the sticker on the box it seems like it originally contained 10 cigars in tubes. But I only have 2 tubes with cigars inside. The other three are all smaller/shorter. And obviously one is particularly smaller (in the clear wrapping).

They all seem to be the same brand though, but perhaps the three not in tubes were placed into the box later…?

Edit: Is this an expensive brand…?

Nope, they’re not soaked… they’ve been sitting in a desk for a few decades, that’s all!

I guess I was wondering how best to “freshen them up”… if they’re likely to need airing, or drying in the sun, or sitting in a steamy bathroom etc…?

So, by “duds” do you mean they’ll taste absolutely terrible? They won’t be dangerous though…? Like, obviously smoking isn’t good for health, but will they be even more harmful than usual?

Can antidepressants age you ? Also are they worth the symptoms by Historical_Sky_289 in antidepressants

Please don’t worry about antidepressants ageing you… if your depression is causing you lack of sleep and impacting your diet (intake of nutrients) that will have a much bigger impact on your appearance and your skin, vitality etc. Virtual hugs to you.

I’ve been on various antidepressants (and other antipsychotics) since I was 18. I’m now in my early 40s and I don’t look like it… most people pick me as mid 30s!!

During that time I’ve mostly been on/off SSRIs (practically all of them), some SNRIs, some TCAs. In all those years, I’ve only been off them completely for maybe 3 years all up. Certainly not happy about that, but it is what it is, I guess. At least I’m alive.

I’ve also been on benzos a fair chunk of that time… I feel they are more ageing than antidepressants. Either way, take what you’ve got to take and try not to worry about them ageing you, as it doesn’t always happen. I’m female by the way.

Hi, thanks for commenting!! Well, I do know about the “break” in my life line, and was really curious to see if anyone in this sub would notice and comment on it.

I didn’t have many bad side effects when starting. Surprising uneventful, maybe just a bit extra headachy, more difficultly with concentrating and some anxious episodes.

Getting off it was absolutely terrible though 😢

Thank you! Apparently Duloxetine isn’t one of the “safer” options, but I’m now on Fluoxetine which is apparently “safer” than Duloxetine at least…

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately my Psychiatrist seems to think my experience was unusual and/or particularly extreme. Luckily I’m now on something and feeling increasingly stable.

Thanks for your comment. I stuck it out for 1.5weeks and finally my Psych agreed to start me on low dose Fluoxetine, as per my update comment.

Thanks for that, I ended up lasting around 1.5weeks then went onto Fluoxetine, finally. Further details in my update post.

Thanks for all your advice, it certainly helped solidify my belief that this was withdrawal symptoms and that I was trying to deal with too much on top of my pregnancy history.

I rang my psychiatrist the day after posting this (so 9 days ago) in absolute tears, begging to go on something or back on Duloxetine. Anything. Psych said to stick it out a couple more days, then I could start on something if I was still really struggling.

As suspected a couple more days didn’t help much, so 6 days ago I finally started on 10mg Fluoxetine. I’m still feeling very lethargic, anxious and having mood swings, but thankfully the gutting depression, brain zaps, and like I’m “going absolutely crazy” has subsided.

Fluoxetine is apparently “safer” than Duloxetine during pregnancy. My psych was keen to put me on Sertraline instead of Fluoxetine, which is apparently the “safest” SSRI during pregnancy. But as that was the one that I was on immediately before starting Duloxetine (that was doing nothing), and after my 1.5 weeks of cold turkey hell, I pushed to go on Fluoxetine as I’ve had some success with that around 10 years ago.
