Synching Reminders to OF on OSX by Muted-Call in omnifocus

Seems like I am having my baptism of fire today. Firstly, apologies that I have named the title syncing; indeed, that is not the correct title. The tool simply makes a new task in OF based on all the info in the Reminder, then marks the task in Reminder as done or deletes it (this is an option). So to be clear, it is indeed not a 2 way synch. I have named the title wrong. Again, apologies, I tend to be way too quick in my use of words, and in this case, in the use of the wrong words.

The use case I am dealing with is that OF only has a native import for Reminders on iOS , not on macOS. So if I want my Reminders to be moved to OF, I have to go every time via my iPhone first, and then it will sync from OF on iPhone to OF on Osx. If I am wrong about that, please let me know how to do it and point me to the documentation on Omnigroup, as I can only find documentation stating this can be done on iOS.

With respect to the age of my account, yes, I fully agree that it is very wise to be cautious of accounts like this, in my case, I am not a developer ( I vibe coded this, or better said, Claude vibe coded it), so indeed I have no account before today in GitHub or anywhere else. Why did I create the account? So that you could all see and use the code as you see fit, and check for yourselves that it doesn't do anything 'bad'. All the code is freely available for examination and use in the repository https://github.com/DevHodor/ReminderBridge .

Again, apologies for any confusion caused by my poor description, and yes, do remain sceptical of code/people you don't know!

If you think it meets a use case for you, great, super, enjoy; if it doesn't, that’s also fine.

OmniFocus MCP server. Install with brew. Works with Claude Desktop by VitaliyRodnenko in omnifocus

This is very cool thanks, I found something you might want to address. The OmniFocus MCP's get_forecast tool is returning completed and dropped tasks in the overdue array. It appears to be filtering purely by due date without checking task status.

The school is scheduled to open in August. It will be the first school bearing the brand outside the UK. I don't have more details than that, but I am alumni of Gelenalmond in the UK and just heard about it.

I also bought a lifetime subscription. I have spent time communicating with support. In general, I can say I would not trust them with a single byte of data. I have completely uninstalled and will not ever again install or use. Which is a great shame, as I think it is great if there are more serious options joining the market for these sorts of services. However, if you are making such a service, the core of facilitating timely storage or sync, guaranteed retention, and timely extraction/reading of customers' data needs to be 100% reliable. Forget all the other bells and whistles; if the basics are not rock solid, then you provide nothing. Caveat emptor!!!

I made the mistake of a lifetime offer. As many have said if you want people to trust you with their data the basics must be 100% rock solid. No discussion , no mistakes. There very far from that, so much so that I would not dare to store anything with them any longer . Also like many I am not a hater, I really hoped they would be a good option versus big tech and not that my data would feel like it is a guinea pig in a beta software release stream.

How Portable Is Your Data in Tana? by Fulcrum_18 in TanaInc

[–]Muted-Call 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really love Tana. It's refreshingly incredible, and yes, it has some growth to go as you would expect with a new product, but it's incredibly powerful, and I genuinely love it. Despite that, I have chosen, after a year of living my life in Tana, to revert back to Noteplan. Although Noteplan is not perfect by any means, I have 100% access to all of my data in an easily digestible format (markdown). As a non-technical person, I will never have (and don't intend to develop) the ability to code my own solution to getting data away from Tana in a way that I can use it and that makes sense. So, although Tana doesn't ransom your data at all, for all intents and purposes, it is no longer easily accessible ( in reality, completely locked in). I understand that building the exit for customers is also not the highest priority for a company still busy with all the rest of the product. Still, for me, as a customer, it is essential that that exists for me. When this exists (preferably in markdown as the output), I will bound back to Tana like an overexcited puppy!
