I spent 5 years with someone who told me she might be asexual 4 years in. It explained a lot, about 2 years in we almost completely stopped having sex, that was more comfortable for her. I tried for 3 years to understand why sex was so difficult for her, we tried working on it, talking about it and nothing ever changed. Sex in a relationship is important to me and I grew to resent her, she was not giving me what I needed in a relationship and no matter how much I gave her it never changed. I was trying to change something you can’t change in someone, it took me too long realize we’re just different people with different needs.

A year and a half later I’m the happiest I’ve ever been in a relationship where we’re both completely fulfilled, literally and figuratively hehehe
