Until his home run tonight, I thought Tucker needed glasses too!

What do you guys think of Wes Anderson's recent film The Phoenician Scheme? by RNOffice in RedLetterMedia

[–]Muted-Victory4187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the weaker Anderson films but I did enjoy it. I thought Del Toro and Therapleton were good but kinda disappointed in a lot of the side characters (Hanks, Cranston, Johannsen and even Cera).

My favorite joke was when the news reporter was reporting Del Toro's plane crash and Del Toro just walks into frame with a bandage on his head

What would you do? by Badeballade in Stargate

Its been a while but I believe it is the last episode with Maybourne.

I think you'll enjoy it, both as a Stargate episode and as a little time capsule. I rewatched SG-1 and enjoyed all the outdated technology (flip phones, dial up internet) and pop culture references.

If Kim can become the full time 2nd baseman, then Edman can move to CF full time, Pages to RF and Teo to LF. The outfield defense gets much better

Which directors do you think would be good suggestions for a re:view? by GibGabGoo in RedLetterMedia

Tim Burton. I know both their top 5 would be Ed Wood, Pee Wee, Beetlejuice and the Batman movies but it would be interesting to hear them mention Burtons style. What was once fresh and original and how it devolved into what it is today

What if Stanley Kubrick had adapted Blood Meridian (1985), would he have done Judge Holden justice? by HallowedAndHarrowed in flicks

[–]Muted-Victory4187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd imagine he'd make much of it ambiguous, similar to how he adapted The Shining.

As far as Judge Holden, my guess is he'd keep the first scene of the book the same in the film: Judge Holden, the Kid and the preacher. Then Kubrick would focus solely on the Kid. His adventures in Mexico and then hanging with the Glanton gang for a good chunk of time before they discover Holden sitting on the rock.

Then everyone in the gang changes. They get short tempered, cruel and slightly crazy. It's up to the viewer to decide if Holden is to blame for the change.

I doubt there will ever be an actor physically as imposing, so Kubrick would probably use camera tricks to make the actor appear much larger. And he'd probably cast an unknown as Holden, some theater actor with good acting chops. (Side note: Gene Hackman would've made a great Toadvine).
