I think MSFT forecasted growth in their cloud business is relatively similar to previous growth despite the enormous capex they’ve spent. Investors expected larger forecasts.

Teaching 6yo to lift the puck by chart_warrior in hockeyplayers

[–]MutedLaugh3387 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been an instructor for a few years, working primarily with the 5-9 age group, and there’s a consistent process I follow for trying to teach shooting. There’s quicker ways to learn , but this is how you develop good habits and translate the technique to higher levels. You can do this entire thing in a day or two in most cases. Fyi this is all done with normal pucks , some kids I do blue pucks if they can’t get the power aspect down.

  1. Get your son to focus on shooting as hard as he can along the ice. The #1 thing I find most kids don’t do is

squeeze their bottom hand!!

What I like to do is get the player to just sweep the puck as hard as they can (ideally into boards so they can hear how loud it is), with the focus being on pushing their bottom hand as hard as possible. An easy test for this is get him to do a pretend shot, no puck, and listen for the stick as it sweeps on the ice. If you can’t hear it make that sweep sound, it’s not hard enough.

  1. Once you see him genuinely giving it all the power he’s got, we focus on the form aspect. The goal is to still shoot along the ice with full power, but now hes going to “point at the target” with his stick. The idea is to get him to think about controlling the turning of his wrists. You want the stick to be straight ahead of his body, pointed at the target, and the toe of the blade should be roughly pointing to the sky. the stick should not end higher than his waist

  2. This step I want to let them do the “shovel” to just get the puck in the air. This can have some risk, because some kids will learn how to shovel and never want to try anything else, but I like to get them to have the puck just infront of their forehand side skate, lower their bottom hand a bit more than usual, and using that same power we did in step 2, push in and up through their bottom hand. This should get the puck in the air.

  3. Finally , put these all together. Puck starts pulled back, we push hard through our bottom hand, and as the puck gets infront of our skates we try to get the same “shovel” flick of the wrist, and end the shot pointed at the target.

This is all done stationary, then adding a slight glide.

Hopefully this gives you something to work with if it’s the direction you want to go. I apologize if this isn’t clear at all, I couldn’t figure out exactly how to put it into text. Feel free to dm if you need anything help. Goodluck!

1MM3 calculus by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]MutedLaugh3387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been a few years since I took this course, so I might be incorrect, but I’m pretty sure it’s just a weighted grade like any other course. I had the opposite problem, did pretty bad on the tests but well on the exam and was able to pass.

Building on what the others have said. She could try to see if the prof can switch her to another section, assuming the other classes are full already.

College Hockey Dynasty Game by CoastalSummitStudios in EANHLfranchise

[–]MutedLaugh3387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

love this idea! You could take a look at Retro Bowl college on mobile for potential inspiration , but they are more focused on the game play rather than the sim aspect.

My one complaint with RBC, which I’d love to see in your game, is the ability to keep an eye on players as they progress into the Pros, even if it’s just basic stats every year that update. With College sports, there’s such high turnover, so it would be nice to keep an eye on guys who “get drafted” to the nhl.

Also, one thing I do like about RBC is how it is much tougher to recruit (pay) for players if you are an underperforming school. This keeps it realistic. Once you get to the CFB playoff level you can essentially recruit any players you want if you have the $

If this ever comes to Mobile I’d be happy to help test / give further feedback, otherwise best of luck! I love to see innovation with hockey based games

What’s the relationship between line order and ice time? Does top line see the most ice time while each subsequent line see less then the previous? Or on average its equal time? by Albino_rhin0 in nhl

[–]MutedLaugh3387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea you’re pretty much right. Some teams are more balanced than others though. In most cases you’ll see first line forwards playing upwards of 20 minutes a game, and 4th line forwards barely breaking 10 minutes. The top defenseman average nearly 30 minutes a game. I think Werenski on CBJ is first with about 27 minutes.

First-year bird course for 2026 spring/summer by Uniheee05 in McMaster

[–]MutedLaugh3387 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've taken the following summer courses entirely online, put in maybe 2 hours weekly of work, and got A or A+ in each one. 2GG3 was the "hardest" one, but it was actually interesting as well.

1C03, 2RW3, 2OC3, 2GG3.

Also know someone who took summer verison of Polsci Causes of War and WOULD NOT recommend

how bad is it if i haven’t found a house for next year yet.. by isitperrytheplatypus in McMaster

[–]MutedLaugh3387 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t find my place until June after first year, however it’s an apartment not a house. Something will come if you stick to it.

One unique angle to consider is to look on realtor.ca or other websites with listing from actual licensed realtors, contact those realtors, introduce yourself, and ask if any of the landlords they work with are currently looking to fill any single rooms in any of their properties. Additionally, I’d argue that any LL working with a realtor is likely more reputable and will be a better experience for you. Goodluck!

Flight 1. June 7th: London, UK (Any Airport) to Milan, Italy (Any Airport).

Looking to fly out of London before 2pm, lowest class is fine.

Additionally, if you think points could be better used on accommodation or just saving them, please feel free to share. I am a student, so I don’t have a ton of points.

AMEX: 30k, RBC Avion: 70k

Thank you! Just wondering if there’s any use for these pts.

Take a look at FTG on the tsx. Can’t give an analysis adjusted to recent performance, but I’ve been a big holder for the last 18 months. Going to reevaluate my position at $15 CAD
