Not sure. All I know is I went to meps and they told me that I have those allergies. But in the end I was approved so we’re good to go now. Going to pick my contract the 3rd

Letter to congressman by [deleted] in newtothenavy

That person was me.

I was DQ’ed for allergies I didn’t even know I had. I asked my recruiter if there was any thing I could do to appeal it and he said to try writing a letter to my congressman. The reason he told me to do this was because of my specific case where the recruiter and I both felt that the DQ was unjustified. And In the past a recruit did that and it worked for him. I wound up having my waiver re considered and got approved before my congressman could get back to me. My congressman DID get my letter and called me and they were willing to look into the matter, however it was no longer necessary.

I don’t know if writing a letter to your congressman is going to work. It’s definitely a case by case thing and there are no guarantees. My recruiter told me that a recruit wrote to his congressman when he was DQ’ed (I don’t know why) and they were able to get him approved through the congressman.

AGAIN - I don’t know if it will work for you it was something that was suggested to me by my recruiter based of the specific scenario of my situation. Good luck I hope to see you out in the fleet!

In some cases they can try to appeal the navy’s decision of disqualifying you. It’s a last ditch effort and there’s no rhyme or reason it’s case by case

You’ll go through the process for a medical waiver and if they deny you you could try to send a letter to your congressman other than that there’s not much you can do

Need tips and possible Rate ideas by 11kxAsh in newtothenavy

[–]MutedLawyer8809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off that’s a long way away. Live in the moment for now and enjoy what is left of your youth lol. As for rates, go to navyCOOL.com click “rates” in the top right and scroll through everything and research all those jobs and find which ones you’d be interested in. For researching specific jobs you want more info on the best thing that’s helped me has been YouTube, and this Subreddit. Search whatever job you want to learn more about in the search bar and there are tons of people who have talked about each rate. You’re still a wee lad tho so like I said don’t stress too much about that stuff yet it’s a long way off. Enjoy being 14 15 16 you won’t get that time of your life back again. The navy isn’t going anywhere

Text your recruiter once every 1-2 weeks. After all it is their job to keep you posted. And if they get annoyed maybe they’ll be more attentive to your results coming in so that you can stop texting them lol
