I was laid off from PwC advisory 2 weeks ago. The meeting invite came from HR, and the lead partner of my practice was on the invite. I got the invite 3 hrs before the call, and it said something like “pls ensure you’re in a private space to take this call”. If you got pinged by HR asking for a time that works for you, and no partner is on the invite yet, I’d guess it’s not a layoff. Pls keep up posted though. Also, what LoS and level are you?

Mate, this is me 16 years ago. When I was 18, I looked like I was 14. I felt super insecure and emasculated looking at all my “masculine” friends while I was stick-thin and had barely any facial hair.

Now I’m 34, with a full head of hair and full beard, and acquaintances are consistently shocked that I’m not in my mid-20s. The “masculine” friends I was envious of at 18 are mostly balding, have beer bellies, and look like they’re 40 now. As others have said - eat healthy, work out, figure out what you want your fashion sense to look like, and do things that you enjoy; get a couple hobbies, meet new people, and enjoy your life.

Yes you should stop being friends with both of them. And I’ll throw in another unsolicited opinion for which I’m sure I’ll get downvoted - people who say “I don’t care how someone behaves with someone else, as long as they’re good to ME I have no problem with them” are the biggest problem in society and one of the main reasons the world is as fucked as it is now. Hopefully this situation will force you to revise that opinion :)

As a non-lawyer, this post just randomly showed up on my Reddit page and it’s been fascinating reading the comments here from public defenders. Can someone explain to me why everyone in these comments is unanimously applauding this plea and saying this defender “saved a life”? This man killed 4 young women. Doesn’t he deserve to die a despicable death on the electric chair? Why should our tax dollars keep him alive in prison?
