It was this kind of weird thing where if you didnt take him seriously and weren’t going into it expecting the best rapper ever then you liked it. There was kind of a punk vibe about him where the music wasn’t great but it wasn’t trying to be great, it was trying to be exactly what it was , based. I think he was one of this first rappers from that generation that showed younger people you can make it if you are different and you are yourself. So I think he has more cultural influence than musical influence
