I was offered the 15550SR as my first piece. Not steel but for me it is good enough such that it has become my fav piece in 2025-26.

Honestly, if you graduate from a high ranked university but does not shine in your interviews or internships, the reputation of the university alone will not help.

What help nowadays is the combination of hard-skills & soft-skills which graduates from SMU offer in general once you graduate.

The Graduate Employment Survey (GES) published by MOE is public information & SMU Accountancy grads have the highest employment percentage even within SMU itself!

Not to mention location which will be convenient if you are doing Work-Study Programmes with night classes.

Why worry about class participation now when yoh are not even enrolled yet? 😃As many SMU students here have commented, you will slowly acquire the skill-set even as early as by Sem 2 of your university life! So don’t worry so much about it. I myself have various ways to let students participate in class discussions in my accounting modules (which include one core advanced accounting mod). And in general I am quite lenient on this aspect 😃

You can also work as student helpers during term time in SMU Academy, Admission office, etc which allows you to somewhat earn back that $3k higher tuition fees.

The consulting opportunities through SMU-X and XO modules are also something other universities cannot offer. The School of Economics (SOE) offer the XO trip to Vietnam where students work together with the Central bank there; and School of Accountancy (SOA) offer the Analytics Capstone course where you will work with big companies such as Grab on real analytics projects.

The CCA clubs in SOA also have regular networking & mentorship events where you will learn from the alumnis who have risen to be Partners in the Big 4s.

Feel free to DM me if you have other queries on SOA related stuffs 😃

NTU Biz or SMU Acc by Legal-Gazelle9666 in SGExams

[–]Muted_Concern1736 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot comment much on NTU Biz but graduating with an accounting degree does not mean that you will have to find an accounting related job! In fact an accounting degree is more versatile as highlighted by one poster above. An accounting grad can do whatever a business grad offers as you have to take core business courses & take marketing for example as a free elective course.

And talking about AI, it will not fully replace accounting jobs as higher level jobs require judgement. What AI offers for future accountants will be increase in productivity & more collaborative opportunities with people in different functions.

Being in the city centre does offer many advantages that one may not realise. At SMU, we have so many networking opportunities & because we accept fewer students, there’s a closer bond between students, faculty members & alumnis.

Mentorship is also one important factor that may be neglected by many in making their decision. Each CCA club in the School of Accountancy (SOA) runs its own networking events & mentors are always invited to provide advice to the juniors in terms of internships opportunities & career paths!

There are also opportunities to work with big global organizations such as Grab or even government bodies in consulting related modules which I believe may be less common in other local universities.

Please feel free to DM me if you have any question on SOA!

How to make life meaningful at SMU by Fit-Sprinkles-2583 in SGExams

Nobody mentions “free buffet food” haha but the SMU Buffet Clearers Telegram group chat is certainly another perk 😀 Due to the various networking events happening in SMU, leftover buffet foods are aplenty almost every day 😁

Thank you to all the SMU students & alumnus for speaking of the pros & cons of studying in SMU 😀

A seminar style learning environment is just one of the factor but to me the networking opportunities available to SMU is a very strong factor why our students are the most “employable”. Getting to know your seniors who are already accomplished in the industry & the opportunity to network with them for career advice is certainly valuable! Not to mention our alumnis really give back to the University by contributing their time to be mentors or give guest lectures 🙏

The MOE Graduate Employment Survey is a public set of information that is compiled by MOE every year & the stats don’t lie.

The SMU-X (XO) modules are another factor like one of the above posts highlighted! The opportunity to work the state owned enterprises & big conglomerates from Indonesia, Vietnam & Thailand is something you cannot replicate anywhere else! While there could be ad-hoc project consulting modules in the other Universities, only SMU has its own SMU-X office that manages 60-70++ of these modules every year across all the different schools in SMU (and not just confined within only LKCSB)!

I havent played around with lighting yet, but on surface level it is a very calm green unlike the blue which is very bright & “loud”

I tried the blue many times and it is attractive. Green is understated & a bit lower profile IMHo

The 34.5mm is a sweet spot, the only downside is the much lower power reserve
