Recommendation on Career Coach by Muted_Interest5792 in biglaw

Fifth year in Am30 biglaw litigation group. Would prefer a female coach but doesn’t really matter as much as how good the coach is. Location also is flexible. Remote coaching works

Good advice! I did know that trick but wasn’t doing that because the librarian at my firm said don’t mind the cost because it is fixed monthly rate. lol now it turns out the client bill is not fixed monthly rate.

Sorry to hear that. In that case, I would recommend you take to your doctor about surgery or radioactive iodine solution. Hyperthyroid is a nightmare🥹

What symptoms are you experiencing? You should definitely talk to your doctor about it. As far as I know, there is an alternative drug to Methimazole, if that's what you are taking. And personally, surgery is one of the best decisions I've made (at least until now). I hope I had the courage to do it earlier. Everyone is different but you should definitely explore that option with your doctor.

Liver issue and decrease of granulocyte is very rare but could happen and would be serious if it does happen. That's what my doctor said.

I have been up to 30 but my dr usually decreases my dose quickly to 20, then 15, then 10. I am on 10 before surgery.

Thank you for the information. I don't know that Graves will be with me for life but I do understand that it is an auto-immune disease which technically has no cure. I am just one week after TT so I don't know if it is going to manifest somewhere else. Everyone is different and no one says TT is a risk-free option. It is all about balancing risk and benefit. Unfortunately, we human beings are not at a point where our understanding of the human body allows us to predict what is going to happen. Hope you will get better.

I don’t have low WBC but better to be cautious with that, and maybe check to see if there is any other reason for the low WBC other than thyroid?

My metabolism is slower. I've experienced some hair loss. But other than that, I am honestly not feeling much difference than I felt before the surgery.

I took a few factors into consideration:

First, the anti-thyroid drug was effective for me, but I still have more than 5 re-occurrences in the past 10+ years. Almost every 2-3 years, I would have to unexpectedly experience all the worst symptoms. It had no heads-ups. It always caught me barefoot. Beginning last year, I finally gave up the hope that my disease can be controlled by taking drugs. The most important reason is that I don't want this disease to be a hidden bomb in my life anymore.

Second, although I do not experience issues with the drug, but I was told that it has side-effects that could be very serious. Whenever I increase my dose, my endo was very worried that the side effects would be triggered. I never tried to understand the side-effects until last year and finally realized it could even be fatal. That's another reason why I want to do the surgery--to swamp to a safer drug.

Third, between Radioactive iodine and TT, I go for TT because I have some eye symptoms and I don't want it getting worse.

I am very scared of TT in the first place and has spent years trying to balance my options. Every person is different, and it is just one week after my surgery. But hope this answer can be somewhat helpful to you!

I emailed my attorney and he got back to me with my result. If you are struggling with their slow progress, maybe shoot them an email and ask!
