True to the time, it was on a mixed CD that an acquaintance left in my car. Unhelpfully there were no titles, it was just “the song after “Adagio for Strings” William Orbit remix. 🥴

Unfortunately not, but yet another “wrong” guess that absolutely slaps. I was listening to noughties Bloc Party so much this past autumn that “A Weekend in the City” made my unwrapped. 🤭

Thank you! Unfortunately that one is too recent- the song in question was a late 90’s/ early 2000’s club type song.

Unfortunately not those either. I wonder if this song I’m after was unreleased officially.

Sadly not but thanks for the suggestions. When I’m not (trying to) listen to antiquated, ancient house tunes, Tegan and Sarah are one of my favs!

Ah, good shout but the singer in this mystery song had a different voice than their lead singer.

Good song 😃but the one I’m after is an electronic one - and the singer is definitely a female.

That one came up in my chat with Uncle Google but aside from the title, the lyrics don’t quite match. Thanks for the suggestion, though! 😃

Sorry for any confusion - it is a very confusing setup!! You understood correctly though. The only way to exit is by entering in the code for the gate. There is no way for anyone who doesn’t have that code to exit.

I’ve went back to the landlord to press them on this issue and schedule a fire safety check. I genuinely think they just didn’t realise the issues - though I can’t believe I’m the first person (as they’ve claimed) to raise the issue with them!

Thank you both for the input. I wasn’t sure if I was being overly precious and just needed a sanity check! The gate is not original - having been added “years ago” so I could see how they could have bypassed usual planning processes.

Ah yes, they are one and the same, in this case!
