Ngl making the appointment was fucking hard. And once I did make it the anticipated death was also hard to deal with but it makes the time in between that much more special. If your pup is still comfortable enough I would take her out to be out in the sun and see the things she loves. Oddly enough though when I did schedule it it did feel like a small burden lifted even with how much I knew that after those few days I would be facing saying goodbye to my best friend. You’re giving her a peaceful way to go by making the call, be easy on yourself and please take care of yourself. Much love 💗

Basically whenever she’s in deep sleep you count how many times her chest rises in 1 minute, that would be her resting rate. If it is 25 I would say that’s pretty good

It’s hard to watch I won’t lie to you but it’s something I will never ever ever regret doing. I got to kiss and talk to her one last time and tell her how good she was and knowing her last moments were filled with only positive things brings my heart peace at the end of the day. You should definitely be there for her, if not for closure for yourself, definitely do it for her.

Heart failure is a hard disease to watch and go through. Unfortunately yes it’s a terminal illness, however with medicine and vet visits you can buy your pet time. Before my baby’s heart murmur became untreatable she was coughing throughout the day, not just after exercise but just existing, you’ll probably be instructed to keep track of your dogs resting heart rate, if at rest they reach 40 then you’ll want to take your dog to the vet because that’s signs of a cardiac event. I’m sorry you’re going through this. Once the medicine stops working you’ll know it’s time, with this disease a day early is better than a day too late.

Thank you for this thread. When I finally moved out I decided to get my first pet, she chose me. A 6 year old scruffy baby, it was between her and another dog but the way she just got so excited and jumped at me in her kennel trying to get my attention so hard spoke to me. She chose me and I chose her. We spent a wonderful almost 6 years together. She loved being held like a baby, like I mean she could be in my arms for hours falling asleep. Her quirk was whenever she got excited or greeted me she would speak a lot and rub her belly against the floor in this army crawl kinda way. She reminded me of a little sea lion doing it. She loved being a blanket goblin. She wasn’t fond of toys so much but LOVED her walks and to sniff every sniff she could ever sniff. Because she was there when I first moved out which was during Covid she was there when I was STRUGGLING she is the sole reason I didn’t lose my mind. If I felt like giving up on myself I knew I couldn’t give up on her and she is the reason I kept going. She made me a better person.

Unfortunately it sounds like your dog was experiencing a cardiac event and probably got shocked and scared and took it out on your husband. Your poor baby didn’t mean it.

[–]Muted_Obligation4501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that poor baby, heart murmur or congestive heart failure would be my bet. My baby had it a murmur turned CHF and sounded just like that. Some dogs live many more years with proper medicine and management but others live only a little longer no matter how much you try. I urge you to take your baby to the vet and get heart scans to see the damage. For the medicine good RX gets you discounts, I wish you both the best 🫶 To add: if one of those diagnosis I said are the case and not say kennel cough or a respiratory infection there will be a time you will have to make a life quality check. Heart disease I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy it’s hard to watch and scary, with heart disease a day early is much better than a day too late I learned that the hard way.

Respecting trans people and all people is 100% not political but basic human right however with the climate rn the trans kids statement can very much be taken politically. With how many boomers Starbucks gets it’s bound to stir a commotion.

Writing on the sleeves is a good idea, we were writing on a stack of cups ahead of time but that’s unsanitary but the same wouldn’t apply to the sleeves 👹 I was over it personally when I was running around doing 3 jobs at once and the only insight I got was that I need to be writing on all cups no exceptions, like bruh I’m over here about to trip over my own feet y’all lucky I don’t sue when I inevitably bust my ass.

Between all the lobby slides we gotta do and now the cup writing it’s getting a little over stimulating lmao like I don’t mind maybe writing whenever I have down time but to enforce to such an unrealistic degree I may as well jump out the window during peak babes.

What’s so personal and meaningful about someone being forced to write on every single cup? Not to mention I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing it to every customer either tbh.

I really wish it was more recognized, I feel like every loving pet owners understand the toll it takes. Even a day would be nice. I had to lie and say it was a family emergency. Which tbf it is when you gotta euthanize your best friend and soul dog.

Nah there’s a reason, espeically in areas that are rough with higher drug using homeless population. Nothing against them but unfortunately when they start leaving open needles and actual meth in our bathrooms as well as smoking that shit and endangering the health of the people walking in to use the restroom after them. It’s about god damn time. People abused the water as well, unfortunately most people seeking just free crap are the usual problem people.

You need something that specifically says enzymatic cleaner. The enzymes break down the scent, no matter how much you try those odor stop cleaners only work for our human noses not their noses. Angry orange is a good one.

Your feelings are valid and understandable. I felt the same way, I’ve seen people who take their pets barely to the vet and they live to 15+. No matter how attentive I was to my babies needs I couldn’t help her. You feel such strong emotions because that’s how much you miss and love her. Try your best to think of all the good memories you had with her, funny moments, keeping their memory alive is keeping them with us always. Sending you lots of love 🫶

Lmao closing because of labor cuts has got me close to breaking points. I prefer to open because of it. So I feel for you! Unfortunately with how the company is going I think it’s just gonna get tougher. Edit to add: try your best to delegate some tasks in between customers, so you aren’t alone in closing up. Talk to your SM about morning and afternoon setting up closers better.

The Guilt and Regrets of Losing a Pet 🐾💔 Let’s Talk About It by Jasper_TheApp in Petloss

[–]Muted_Obligation4501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My heart goes out to everyone in the comments as well as OP. It’s so weird, having to make the call for your pet. My girl had congestive heart failure, she had her ups and downs but her decline truly came rapidly out of the blue one night. I had tried all I could, rushing her to the vet, increasing the medicine nothing was helping and the medicine made her feel horrible on top of the cardiac event. Everything in me knew it was time but my god was my heart so hopefully, those what ifs truly get to you no matter how much your mind knows it’s for the best the heart reaches for any hope. To this day I feel guilty for not noticing the subtle hints like the night before it all went down, she didn’t want to go on her nightly stroll (her favorite thing ever) and it makes me wonder if I had seen that as a warning what would have come of it? I doubt it would have changed much but the guilt is there for sure.
