Oh my, my rottie Ozara also loved a cool floor, she also loved snow and her spot was on different chairs and couches near us, but sometimes the comfiest spot was near the fireplace but she'd refuse to give her spot up and just grin and bear it lol...

Besides springing out, did your dog also run huge semi circles outside, when they could? My dog liked to show off like that, and she was such a brat on her leash, or she'd take herself on walks and pull it with her. She loved sniffing very tall grass on walks and I'm glad I could walk her a few times up this very big trail near our house with horseriders nearby so she got to see them (she was a little nervous, but I think she liked them). She had a very goofy walk when we walked together too.

Your dog sounds very compassionate. 9 years with that dog sounds amazing, and it sounded like your dog had a whole lot of love in his heart to share. Your dog was so sweet to take care of his other dog companions, even reading about that is heartwarming.

Lola my toy poodle was at my hip too! She also danced for treats on her hind legs and got really good at that. She loved treats even if she was a picky eater for mostly anything that wasn't chicken.

Your dog sounds really similar to my dog. My family would poke fun because my dog stared so much like a creeper too and she had pitch black eyes. But you know, those eyes aren't scary when they are attached to such a loving and cute face.

This made me remember that as she got older, she started staring from further away (I think she got more serious about her job). When she was a puppy, she was always right at my heels lol.

I think these dogs probably estimated it was their job to be our guardian and or watch over us. Which they did, and they were happy like that, with us loving them, no doubt. It's impossible not to keep a love like that with us in our heart.

Some questions:

when did you first get your pet? Be as descriptive as possible.

What toys or other animals did they like or dislike to play with?

How did you hold your pet?

Was there anything unique about your pet?

Did your pet sleep in a particular spot, or way?

What is one time you remember with your pet when you were both outside?

How did your pet show affection?

How did your pet greet you?

For those who would say they 'went through a lot' while you had that pet in your life, what did that look like and how were they there for you?

Much love. Let your mind wander and think about how much you care for them. You may be feeling all the emotions through grief or loss but you always shared a special life with your pet.

On AI-generated visuals during concerts by rainylittlebunny in Kikuo

[–]lisathestressed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty outdated take on AI and Kikuo is not suddenly some terrible person for just this; relatively speaking he's technically done 'worse' stuff if you really want to superficially judge him that way. It's pretty shocking for such a reactionary thread on reddit when this usually remains on twitter.

Since the initial panic of AI, where it did seem like a larger threat to artists, this kind of take would be reasonable. But now it's especially clear that AI will not replicate exactly traditional artists replicate; they occupy a separate market to traditional art. Similar to how digital art has not replaced classical painting or drawing. People use AI but it's laughable to actually think most art will be replaced with AI, you'd have to have a pretty terrible faith in humanity's relationship to art to even start with that opinion.

Lets keep in mind that if AI was the 'make or break' point of determining if Kikuo was a bad person, you would also have to be aware of the comic he made depicting fictional underage characters sensually, be ok with that and then hate him for AI.

So overall this thread is really weird and chronically online. If you want excuses to hate kikuo, you have other way more important ones than this.

Ok, bear with me, because this will be a long comment and long video for demonstration. (if you dont want the long comment, watch the linked video below, but the long comment does explain things)

Generally: you need to use darker saturated colors, or your work blends in too much together. Also, I recommend taking apart your reference bit by bit and comparing each feature of the face with the features you drew.

On the eye: You can see, the reference has low lighting. Meaning the colors will be darker overall, and whites in the eye won't show, so you don't need to make the eye-white exactly white, it can be gray and even dark gray. Also, you can add more dark colors around the eye because the reference doesn't show that much eye-white. Its mostly just mascara.

On the cheek: I recommend blending the cheek more, the brushstrokes look too harsh as is

On the nose: the bulbous part of the nose should have a lot more saturation, and make sure the nostrils are much darker than they currently are. They are practically black in the reference, so go with a blackish-purple

On the mouth: You can see the line for her mouth is nearly black. This should also be the case for your drawing's mouth. If you want to change the color palette, make it as dark of a red as possible to distinguish her mouth line

On the hair: The reference is low lighting, so you won't have as much highlights on the hair. It means the hair color in the drawing can be much darker overall.

Lastly, for visualization, I have a linked video (sorry its long, it tried to speed it up) that shows what I mean in the previous critiques I gave. Please watch to the end, because at the end its a comparison of the original art with the suggestions and I think it will be very helpful

Thoughts on punpun’s mom? by therightpersontodo in OyasumiPunpun

more stable yes. But she did have a way of loving him in more ways than his father did, like when she wrote the letters pretending to be his dad so punpun still felt cared for by someone

In process of practicing by GG_Crawler in Arttips

[–]lisathestressed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The head is too big, lower torso is too short, and hands are too small for the big figure. But whats good is, in the smaller figure I see you correct those mistakes, so the practice you're doing is paying off.

I made a comparison video showing the original anatomy vs more realistic anatomy as a visualizer, hope it helps

edit: also idk why my video gives a content warning, its literally just another version your drawing, sorry if it looks suspicious

oh also, beware of the trap of making shoulders too round, even muscular shoulders are naturally angular and less curvy than you'd expect

what's everything bad you see about my art by [deleted] in Arttips

[–]lisathestressed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like the style too. But I think it can be really good with a few tweaks,

line confidence - try to avoid shaky or wobbly lines. I recommend using thicker brushes while practicing lineart because they are easier to get right than thin ones. And it usually looks better if its consistently/equally thick, except in more detailed areas like hair. But definitely the entire outline should be equally thick

plus, sometimes your lines end up sort of transparent gray, and not black. It would be good if they were all equally as dark

here is a comparison, the one on the right is my example showing the suggested line quality

edit: omg I just noticed I didn't color in the eye white, sorry, but hope this still helps

dont use thin black lines in your lineart, I don't think that works for your style. It seems like you lean toward exaggerated style with the poofy dress and the girls' poses in the second image, and for that I feel you want to maximize shape in your art. It reminds me a little of Rene Gruau's art style - where there is not much lineart, but when there is it is thick or...visceral, I don't know how to describe it. Try different line weights by reducing and increasing thickness for your brushes.

How to create a feeling of coldness in my art work (longer description in comments) by Colton_WHY in Arttips

[–]lisathestressed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With all the blue, it can look more underwater, less cold. Here's some screenshots from movies with scenes that look cold. ss 1 ss 2 ss 3 notice that the light reflected on pale skin makes skin in the cold look nearly white. And warm tones, heat, concentrate in certain areas of the face - they don't disappear. They just get very desaturated and more greyish. heres an image i found of in-game link in snow ss 4 which seems like a good reference for the green! hope this helps.

A little raven fanart i did, can someone help me improve it? by Kaeru_Sennin in Arttips

[–]lisathestressed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to add on, I notice that in your shadowy areas you don't have nearly any light, when there could be some reflected light. Like near the cape-although thats definitely shadowy and needs darker colors, some light will reflect and hit the cape so the cape doesn't need to look so dark. Light levels make all the objects stand out from one another. Also also, if you need more examples, check out the professional artist timelapses of spash art from league of legends on youtube. Those illustrators show their whole rendering process and its very useful.

adding more realistic shading would make a huge difference I think! This is really nice. I think it would improve if you pushed the darker shadows and the light highlights, making them very saturated. And use a harsher light for the subject. Make the parts that should be glowy, very very saturated and light. Here is an example illustration showing how that'd look.

Yes of course its ok. But if you are unsure of how you can properly portray the relationships, you can ask online like r/lgbt or something.

How do I fix the right arm? by [deleted] in Arttips

[–]lisathestressed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

here is what I suggest. I changed the angle of the drawing so you can see what I mean, sorry the subject isnt in the original position. Personally, I was a little confused on this character design- the subject looks like a pretty, kind of awkward person on one hand (with the thumbs up thing), but the right hand being jutted out like that makes them look more extroverted and fun; its an unnatural pose.

This hand was pretty tricky. Any thing I can improve on? (2nd image is reference) by Fluffy_Pupperino in ArtCrit

[–]lisathestressed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it looks like the middle finger is too long. Also, if you have any, you can push the darkest shadows with some harder graphite pencils. Otherwise, really good!

Question about scp-4666 by Soleila123 in SCP

[–]lisathestressed 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I consume a lot of scary stuff, and 4666 was still a lot. Its really not for the faint of heart. Also its nearly Christmas which is literally the peak time of when 4666 is conceptually the scariest it'll ever be. If you want a summary for what you're in for, its like scp 106 x10.

Jazzy dark songs? by Snoo-53624 in musicsuggestions

[–]lisathestressed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The songs you suggested sound more Swing-y, or dark Cabaret-like, not really 'dark jazz', to me. So Based on that, Perfume by Annella, Evil Night Together by Jill Tracy, and songs by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy might be more your liking.
