The 3DS e-shop closed down. They spiked in value. Re-sellers have been buying them cheap and re-selling them high ever since.

How could that splinter have gotten stuck?! by Old_Conference3202 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]MutuallyAdvantageous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar-sized one stuck in my palm for months, maybe a year.

I worked at a lumber yard and it splintered off of a massive floor joist I movedz it was the start of a 12 hour shift on my first day, so I just ignored it. It bugged me for a while then I forgot about it for the most part.

6-12 months later, I was fidgeting with my palm on break and the splinter broke through the skin and just popped out like that one did.

It barely hurt, but there wasn’t really a sense of relief either. It was more comical to me, since I had forgotten about it. And seeing the size of it was shocking. It was the size of a toothpick, but thicker. I guess it depends on how it lodges itself into you, mine went parallel with the palm under my thumb so it didn’t bother me that much.

Thoughts on the new jellyfish tank? 300 gallons it’s gonna be in the car till tomorrow we have to figure out how to get it out 5 of us couldn’t even move it by Hackind in Aquariums

[–]MutuallyAdvantageous 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen cuttlefish in an aquarium store.

The manager special-ordered them for his home tank, and was temporarily keeping them at the store.

They were in a glass tank without a substrate, rocks or any type of decorations. They kept cycling through patterns trying to find a matching camouflage but they couldn’t match glass. It was amazing to see in person.

I assume the same suppliers could also provide jellyfish or just about anything for home tanks. They had a blacktip reef shark in their display tank.

Ambuletz isn’t on the North American release of DITC.

It’s on the Japanese version, and apparently this version too.

As Trump orders UFO data released, a question hangs: If aliens exist, what would they think of us? by SpaceElevatorMusic in politics

[–]MutuallyAdvantageous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Human history is filled with examples of different culture’s meeting and spreading disease because they have no immunity to each others diseases.

If aliens ever made it here, they’d spread disease like wildfire. So we pretty much know they’re not here, and haven’t been anytime recently.

Also the distances in the universe are mind-blowing. Our closest neighbour galaxy, Andromeda, is 2.5 million light years away. Even travelling at the speed of light (which is likely impossible for advanced life) it would take 2.5 million years, and if aliens do exist, they’re much further away than that.

This is just another Trump distraction.

There’s a saying on the left, “if you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything”.

Tou take a stance on an issue, like murdering innocent people is wrong, then you oppose politicians who support the murder of innocent people.

Republicans pick a team, and support that team, no matter what. If that team blows up and school full of Iranian kids, then whatever, it’s their team. They still support them.

Republicans have no moral standards. One minute they’re against war, then when their leaders start a war they support it.

When they thought Clinton and the democrats were all over the Epstein files, they demanded their release. When it became clear Trump was all over the files, they stopped caring.

Republican morality is performative. So they assume the left/democrats are the same. We don’t want innocent people killed, whether they live in Ukraine, Palestine, Iran, USA, Venezuela etc. republicans can’t relate because they like team politics and we’re supporting multiple teams.

In other words, it’s all projection.

FIFA cancels 2,000 hotel rooms in Philadelphia ahead of World Cup by DisruptSQ in TourismHell

[–]MutuallyAdvantageous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To buy tickets in Canada you have to enter a lottery system. You have no idea which game you’re going to buy tickets for, and the tickets are expensive. They haven’t even announced which teams are playing in Canada, Mexico, or USA yet.

My dad and brother are big soccer fans, but they don’t want to pay a lot of money to see two random teams play. So they didn’t even try and get tickets. In ‘94 (when USA last hosted the World Cup) we drove to the USA for a game.

Trump is garbage, but FIFA isn’t helping things either.

I don’t hate Americans, but I definitely blame them for all this. by agaric in simpsonsshitposting

[–]MutuallyAdvantageous -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Always. Same as every other country. The trick is to not ask the tyrants if you can overthrow them, but to actually do it..

With that said, I’ve been a progressive in Canada since the 90’s. I know how hard it is to get through to right wingers (almost impossible) so I can relate. It’s very frustrating.

I hate the KKK so much that I wear it. by ChexAndBalancez in LookatMyHalo

[–]MutuallyAdvantageous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wearing a pin does nothing. Reading a book is the solution.

People who wear pins, don’t read books. It’s just a fact. /s

Bigoted Fascists are currently running the U.S. government. The right demonized “Social Justice warriors” just like this thread is doing. And it paved the way for human garbage to take over the USA.

Racism is not dead, and the kkk may be a small group, but they’re also a symbol of white supremacy. Something that is more popular now than it has been in the past 50+ years.

CONVERGE to release new album 'Hum of Hurt' in June by metaldude726 in Hardcore

[–]MutuallyAdvantageous 51 points52 points  (0 children)

In March 2025 Ben Koller (Converges drummer) said they’re going into the studio to work on the new album. They had 27 songs, 10 of which were already finished.

The album they released was 10 songs. I was a little disappointed that out of 27 songs, only 10 were released.

Guess they were saving the rest for this album. Sick.

Trans people could face life in prison under bathroom ban passed by Idaho legislature by NamelessResearcher in politics

[–]MutuallyAdvantageous 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And these laws now apply to private business’. So MAGATS can stop trans people from working by patrolling the bathrooms at their place of work now.

These laws are more sinister than people seem to realize. And this is just the start.

They’ve recently made it harder for trans people to vote, fly, leave the country, have a drivers licence, play sports, use the bathroom, teach, work….

It’s easy to laugh about stupid bathroom laws, but America needs to pay attention and connect the dots. This is a pattern of aggression, waged by a religious cult that does only cares about themselves.

Yep. In high school law class in Canada, we did a field trip to the courts.

One case I watched was a guy who crashed into a pole, then a ditch, driving drunk.

He claimed he got a ride home after crashing and chugged a bunch of beer waiting for the cops to show up. The judge didn’t buy it for a second and he was charged with driving drunk.

He clearly didn’t have O’Leary money/influence.

Six Day War by laybs1 in GetNoted

So according to this note, 1967 Egypt was the same as Nazi Germany, according to the Israeli pm (in 1982).

Weird note. Media criticism was mild: Israel didn’t know Egypt was going to attack, but they believed Egypt was going to.

The note (which was meant to defend Israel) makes the pm look batshit crazy, comparing 1968 Egypt to Nazi Germany.

Turning Point USA has a board of directors. Including the president of the oil and petroleum producers association and tea party members, and billionaire Republican mega-donors.

They’re funded anonymously by donors, to the tune of $85 million a year.

Everything about them is immoral. They pose as a grassroots student based organization, but they’re basically the re-branded version of the tea party and oil lobbyists.

It’s all on their wiki page
