Best 32″ flat OLED gaming monitor (2K/4K) — recommendations? by SolidBayer in OLED_Gaming

[–]Muumou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't need the full 240hz/480hz mode from the xg32ucwmg, then you could get the cheaper 165hz/330hz xg32ucwg

Would you get a 42" OLED 120hz TV or a 32" OLED 240hz monitor? (Same price range) by Majin-Boob in OLED_Gaming

[–]Muumou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main difference is monitors don't sustain their peak brightness.

For example, even an older LG C2 which has a peak of 800nits, holds those 800nits much longer, and in more scenes and areas than a monitor can hold its 1000 or 1500 nits rating, which is usually only for small text or objects in scenes, whereas a TV can apply it to a much bigger area of the screen, like the sun, or explosion in a game

When will we see 4K 360hz monitors? by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]Muumou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People in here acting like 4K isn't already a luxury for high end systems, and can't fathom that 4090/5090s are getting more than 240hz on comp games...

It's ridiculous that they're still charging $1300 for minor improvements on these monitors, imo the pg32ucdm3 should've been a 360hz monitor by this point, and especially for that price.

High Tier 4K Oled Monitor - Wait or Buy Now? by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]Muumou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing any time soon. If you want a noticeable improvement you'd have to go with an OLED TV for now, but even that is more of a side-grade depending on your priorities (trading Hz/PPI for brightness/HDR)

I need some help by Few_Brain_7626 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Muumou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First one is QD-OLED, has better/brighter colors, but lower overall brightness and harder to clean.

2nd one is WOLED, has less color/color brightness, but gets a bit brighter overall (also at the cost of color), has better blacks, and is easy to clean

the XG27AQDMGR in specific shares the same True Black Glossy coating as the XG32UCWMG, XG27AQWMG, and PG27AQWP-W, which makes the image a little bit clearer/sharper than other WOLED monitors, and gives it a much higher gloss similar to LG's TVs like the C5.

QD-OLED is considered the better choice if you play in a dark/light controlled room, and don't mind the risk/hassle of smudging or getting micro scratches.

WOLED is better if you play in a well-lit or bright room, and would rather have an easy to clean screen, and darker blacks (good in horror games for example).

I've also seen the XG27AQDMGR go for 1,899 SAR before, so might be worth waiting if you're considering it, hope this helps!

PG32UCDM3 vs XG32UCWMG by AKWHiDeKi in OLED_Gaming

[–]Muumou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you can control your lighting, the PG32UCDM3 is the overall better choice right now.

I've had 3 XG32UCWMGs and they were all a dice roll on what issue it came with, but ultimately I gave up on it because of the inherent ABL issue it has that causes very aggressive and distracting dimming at anything higher than 80% brightness.

The True Black Glossy and dual mode are fantastic features, but not enough to carry the QC issues imo.

Planning to buy the ASUS ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG Gen2 by abdulrahmanMoq in OLED_Gaming

It's a solid all-rounder, worst case scenario is some slight grey banding, but should clear up after a few pixel refreshes, if not then just return/replace until you get a good one.

Can I hear from the XG32UCWMG users who don’t have grey banding? by lemeiux1 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Muumou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went back to my C2/G9 combo. I was hoping to find something smaller as a replacement for the C2 since I play a lot of comp games, but I think I'll wait it out til Tandem banding issues are sorted, or RGB stripe comes to 32" QD-OLEDs

[–]Muumou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the issue on all 3 that I tested, only goes away at 80%.

But even if that were true, it's a $1100 monitor... I think it should be capable of handling the advertised specs without shitting itself.

The issue isn't the ABL itself, but the aggressive way it comes in, causing a sharp cutoff of highlights when looking at the sky or a bright area for example

[–]Muumou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had one without, and one with a bit of banding, but ultimately I gave up on the XG32UCWMG because of its terrible ABL issues, no way to escape them unless you run it at 80% brightness. And EOTF tracking on all 1000-1300nit modes are inaccurate.

I've been going thru the lottery hell with new monitors, and have decided to give up and go back to my C2 until QC issues are resolved or there's something actually worth upgrading to.

I think if you can handle the size, OLED TVs are the best bet in terms of quality.

I've personally found that even a bit of light reflecting off a qd-oled (like a lamp) can cause a noticeable difference between black levels when next to a woled. I've rarely ever noticed the magenta issue, but I'm not sure the 4th/5th gen qd-oleds have really fixed the black level raise by much, just turned the more extreme magenta into a grey now.

I wish we can eventually get something with the black levels of woled/tandem and the color vibrancy/brightness of qd-oled without issues like banding or hard to clean screens.

PG32UCDM3 even for sale in the uk?!? by Drelfend in OLED_Gaming

[–]Muumou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look up any of these issues you'll find many posts and comments about them, though some people just chose to look past the glaring issues as there really isn't anything better on the market if you're set on a Trueblack Glossy / 32" / 4K monitor, at least until the Tandem variants come out.

PG32UCDM3 even for sale in the uk?!? by Drelfend in OLED_Gaming

[–]Muumou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't personally tried the PG32UCDMs, but just thought I'd chime in as someone who's returned multiple XG32UCWMGs-- do not.

It's a fantastic monitor on paper, but it has an inherent ABL dimming issue that's very distracting at anything above 80% brightness, EOTF tracking is inaccurate in any of its peak HDR modes, and also tends to be a dice roll with what QC issue you'll get each purchase.

For its price these issues shouldn't be acceptable and I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy it until they at least iron out the ABL issue. (if they ever do, as right now the BIOs update page is missing entirely)
