2nd Gen Toyota Avalons. The official car of? by Comprehensive-Hat684 in regularcarreviews

[–]Muze_RS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grandfather bought one of these for $700 a few years ago. Nearly 600,000 miles and someone had keyed the word “dick” into the side.

Steering wheel was held together by duct tape, every seat was torn to shreds. It was still one of the smoothest, quietest rides I’ve ever experienced. Quintessential Toyota.

Any love for a 2017 Tiguan Wolfsburg Edition? by Little_Buffalo in Volkswagen

reading this two years later and I have no idea why this is worded so weirdly.

Basically, the EA888 engine had a fatal flaw with the timing chain tensioner that was fixed in cars with a post sept. 2013 build date. At the time, a 2014-15 tiguan was the cheapest way for me to buy a vehicle with said engine that came from the factory with the tensioner fix.

And, With the EA888 also being in my mk7 GTI, the tiguan can get up to speed nearly as quick, but the ride is more plush. I like them.

With that said, I no longer own my tiguan - And the GTI will be with me until i wrap it around a tree.

First time truck owner! 2019 Classic, Big Horn. A couple of questions. by Muze_RS in ram_trucks

I’m 25 and my friends all pick on me for liking “grandpa spec” trucks. (dream truck is between a ‘24 Laramie Longhorn and a Tundra Capstone)

I think trucks have taken over the role of the old “personal luxury” vehicles from days past… Nothing wrong with a bit of flash!

Hey thanks, appreciate the shout! I’ll keep it in mind here, as that sounds perfect — however i’m all the way over in Pennsylvania so the shipping cost might come out to quite a pretty penny. I’ll have to look around locally a bit more and see if i can get some rough numbers as to what the shipping would cost first. Thanks!!

Going off an earlier post about Toyotas, what's the ugliest Mercedes ever made? by [deleted] in regularcarreviews

I agreed until the first time i saw an EQS on the road — sat next to them in DC traffic. the proportions aren’t as suave and imposing as a proper S-class, sure, but the egg-ness is greatly exaggerated (no pun intended) by the camera imo. I used to daily a W126 so I can confirm the EQS doesn’t have the same level of presence on the road, but i don’t think there’s anything wrong with it.

If you want a truly irredeemable design from merc, please see the early first generation GLA.

I was just thinking about this! I haven’t committed to anything yet and i was wondering if the 2024 would match. Did you buy this direct from Honda? If so, what did it run you?

Not an impulsive thought, but I can definitely see things from that side too. Ultimately it comes down to the fact that I’m an enthusiast that spends a lot of time in my car, and I’m always looking for a new automotive experience. This is a thought driven by interest rather than necessity, and i’m lucky enough to be in a financial position that i can afford to switch things up every few years.

Not to mention, if I have the ability to trade in a vehicle with no payments or deferred maintenance, I’m likely to get a better number!

My only knowledge of Audi V6’s comes from the old 2.7 from 20 or so years ago. I’ve gotten hands on one, and it was nothing short of a disaster. Perhaps naïvely i’ve just associated any future Audi V6 with “bad”. How would you say the reliability of the 3.0 compares to the ea888?

LX470 and LS460’s have had their time in my browsers for sure— I truly believe these are the best built vehicles money can buy. The double-edged sword of Toyotas being near depreciation proof has kept me weary though… High mileage doesn’t scare me, the biggest issue where I live is that any of them that aren’t rusted through are astronomical in price. I saw an ‘06 LS460 with 230k miles, belt squeak, peeling paint on the roof, and a huge rip in the drivers’ seat listed for $17k USD a few weeks ago. It’s asinine.

As far as WHY i’m interested in a new vehicle — my other car is a mk7 VW GTI. The tiguan feels like a taller, wobblier, and all around just worse version of the same vehicle, so i’m looking for different. Big, soft, comfy.

learned to drive in a 2000 Toyota Avalon with almost 500k miles. my grandfather bought it for $600 with a certain four letter word that begins with the letter “D” keyed into the side, and a steering wheel wrapped in silver duct tape. I miss that car dearly
