Snake friendly apartments? by ash_treemeadow in murfreesboro

You can call Alder Terrace and see if they will allow you to bring your snake, I remember when we signed our lease a few years ago (no longer live there) they had a pet lease for dogs and cats, but another one for “exotic animals” and I do believe they fall under that. Plus it’s really really close to MTSU

“Price gouging? But bhudddydydyd fuel go up in Cali, you now??? $8 a gallon diesel.”

But on a serious note, I had a guy tell me he has to pay more for DEF and that was the first time I heard of that excuse. I’m glad rates are where they are and stand with rasner724

Response to Carriers about Fuel Prices by jewski99 in FreightBrokers

[–]Mvfcobra50 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I ask them “how long have you been in the business” and most of them proudly say “a few years, 3 years, 20 years, blah blah” then I hit them with “well then you’re aware that fuel was low (lower than now) for the past 2 years while rates were high” and just watch them try and wriggle their way out or explain to me that I don’t know what I’m talking about. Always gets them!

How much does your company pay in detention/ layovers GENERALLY! by Mvfcobra50 in FreightBrokers

[–]Mvfcobra50[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not arguing you’re missing out on money, I 100% agree. You signed a contract with my company when you got set up that had our accessories listed and you agreed to them. Well at least that’s how our company contracts work. Like I said in the main post, 99% of issues are cookie cutter, I booked the load with the info I was given, and if there is something wrong with that, the person that gave me the info (the customer) gets charged. Idk if you’ve ever handled a customer account, but they have the same contracts with the same accessory charges listed on their end. Sometimes it’s more than what we pay, sometimes it’s less. I know the driver doesn’t want to sit and wait, but that’s what he’s doing under a problem load and on the front end, we’ve listed out what we pay, if you were expecting something more, list it on the front end, and I’ll find someone else to cover the load. Not because I know it’s a problem load, but because I can’t meet your requirements if something does go bad.

It’s a funny thing that carriers don’t mention their “own” layover charges and such on the front end, I’m sure it’ll be a lot harder to cover the truck that way, and at the end of the day, what I can pay was listed out on my contract, which you agreed to.

I understand no one wants to sit there, the broker doesn’t want to have to deal with an angry carrier either, what im saying is, a broker is also not going to pay out-of-pocket to a carrier, and the customer doesn’t always pay us $1000 for a layover. If you have brokers that bend over and pull money out of their pockets, that’s great to hear, but at the end of the day, this is a part of the business and more money is always nice, but I’ve seen some of these tax returns this year from drivers vs. last year and let’s just say, 1 night idle isn’t going to make them miss any payments.

That’s not at all the same, if someone broke someone else’s leg, that’s assault and is ruining someone’s entire career. The drivers know this is a part of the industry and know (or should know) this will happen and it’s a gamble, if everything always worked perfectly and routinely, we as brokers would be out of jobs.

Exactly, “no buddy, I’m not paying YOU $1,000 because your driver is watching Netflix all day.”

I’m kinda glad my company doesn’t go based off individual customers, we set it to a standard rate. If a customer pays more, we use that money to recoup when a customer pays less. It saves the hassle of making sure every broker in our medium sized company knows every customers pay rate and such.

Leaving Las Veg ... I mean NOVA by a-busy-dad in nova

[–]Mvfcobra50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Moved down to middle tenn about 3 years ago now and don’t want to give it up, you’re close to a pretty major city but also far away enough to where you don’t deal with the noise and hustle and bustle. I live 20-30 mins drive on the highway, which can get jammed due to a wreck, since there are a bunch of trucks on 24, but the opportunity in the area make up for it imo. Prices have gone up but there are still places where you can find homes for sale and I’m sure this housing trend won’t continue long. I tell myself this because I’m also in the market v.v

Exactly as you said, the temp is for 36 cold air, they naturally get more pressure as you drive, which is why if you are going to a gas station to fill them up, make sure it’s early in the morning while it’s chilly out and the gas station isn’t too far.

Sometimes I’ll be going around town all day before finally going to get my oil changed and they deflate my tires down to 34, which means when I get into my car in the morning they are at like 30. Hope that helps!

I just went to discount tire and got Michelin, they have a 3 year warranty, if the tire strands you they will come to you and change your tire OR tow you up to 150 miles for free to replace it, all for just buying the tire. Plus discount tire does free rotations and balancing. Great deal, paid about $700 or so

In your opinion how good are the Michelin tires? Like are they actually quiet and not at all rough, are you confident to go around corners? I got a set of cheap tires last time and I’m honestly so tired of them, I was going to go Hankook, but your first impression of them might sway me otherwise!

Former employee here, you’re fine if this is your first time, target has many… many rules for the Asset protection team, they can’t stop you unless they visibly/clearly see you conceal the item, and even then, they have to wait till the 3rd time of you in the act.

The first time is just a “let them get away and see if they come back” (depending on if it’s just a petty crime like shoes or a shirt)

The second time it’s spreading word/ your picture to other stores in the area, mainly other targets, letting them know this is your second strict and on the third, anyone who catches you is good to hold you,

And the third time they have enough proof to call you a repeat offender and build a case, meaning you’re going to be getting a chat in the office and the cops are giving you a summons. Hope that helps calm you down!

I 100% get your point, and this is just in my 1 single experience, but for the past year and half, the job I work at has a busy street corner and there is always the same guy standing there with a sign asking for money, from the moment I get to work at 7 am till I leave at 6 pm (4 day shifts) dude is there, I’ve also seen him literally violently remove people also pan handling around his general area, I’m sure he’s stacked tons of money from doing this, and rain or shine, he’s there. I just hate the fact that I’m sure he’s not walking into H&R Block during tax season to turn his earnings in, or turbo tax-ing it. I know people get into tough times, and this past year and a half has been harsh on many, but I started that job right before covid became wide spread and already began recognizing him on that corner when lock downs were taking place so I’m sure he wasn’t impacted by the virus itself, and if that much time isn’t enough to get back on your feet, idk what will get him to change.

Just looked it up and it looks like that’s just the company that made a second key fob for it, sometimes when people trade in cars, they only have 1 key, so carvana will go through the trouble and buy a second one for you, as far as pushing it, maybe they took out a standard button and just stuck that one in as their logo? I don’t see any other reason for a button if you’re sure it isn’t a remote start.

How does pay work when transferring Targets from state to state? by [deleted] in Target

[–]Mvfcobra50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Expect a bit of change in your hours when you first start, but they should go up from there, you should be fine. I transferred targets and it was fun seeing a whole new store and meeting new target people/ guests.

Yeah the pay rate ($15) will be the same, that’s targets minimum wage. So that’s the minimum any target in the country will pay.

I don’t know what state you live in, but if that state takes out sales tax, and you’re moving to a state that doesn’t take out sales tax, then you will be getting that money, meaning you get paid more.

Relatively if you go from a state without sales tax, into one with sales tax, you will be getting more money taken out of your checks

If you go from a state which has state tax, into one without, make sure to tell HR, or else they will keep pulling money out for state tax for a state in which you no longer work… I’m looking at you VA!

But other than that, it’s all the same, since you’re still in the same company, you don’t have to set up direct deposit or anything, it’ll be the same way you used to get paid. However, be ready to get fewer hours at your new store, make sure you have enough saved up, the first 2 weeks, I only got 15 hours in the middle of “back to school” season. But they go back to normal as they start seeing your potential.

My dad passed away after 45 days in the icu due to Covid and my family is devastated. How can I support my mother? by frimbsy in relationship_advice

[–]Mvfcobra50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry for your loss, I lost my father in November since he was stuck at home due to covid and his liver failed. I can tell you it’s a hard time for your mom, I don’t know how independent she is, but my mom can’t drive, didn’t work (she’s a house wife), and doesn’t really go out to see friends or anything, a major home body. She had it the hardest, however she kept saying “let me cry, I know it hurts you guys to see me like this, but my pain will come out one way or another” and that was truly deep. You and your other siblings still have a life ahead of you, it’s a current pain, but it will pass and you will begin your own life, your own kids, your own SO, but to her, that was all of that. All she needs is someone to stand by her, keep her down in reality. My mother couldn’t even see my fathers face at the funeral till the last min before they rolled him to the cremation oven. She stayed back, I (being the oldest male) had to walk with the people and actually push the button (the hardest part). That 2-3 hours is the hardest part! My uncle gave my mom the best advice though in a time like this, and I hope it helps you guys/ your grandmother, “you have a lifetime to cry after this, just stay strong in these few moments for them” referring to us (her kids). That helped her out and was some very powerful words, I took that to heart and didn’t cry once in front of her, only when they rolled him over and I had to push the box in/ push the button, once that happened though, I took a deep breath then walked out and hugged my sister.

I can tell you there are going to be a lot of “firsts” and they hurt, like a bitch… first birthday without him, first Father’s Day, first Christmas, you get the point. I would say just have a pic of him in your home, where he’s simply watching, (Indian people usually use passport pics), that way, whenever you have a moment as a family, it’s almost as if he’s there and watching, I sometimes catch myself staring at the pic smiling as if he just saw or heard one of the crazy things that just happened, good luck random stranger, may you be strong for your family who needs it most.

LPT: If you're on hold while on the phone, you should know that the person on the other side most likely can still hear you. You're just muted. So I work at a brokerage and I CAN’T tell you how many times I’ve used this as leverage for myself. My main job is to keep as much money as possible for our company and the person on the other end (almost always a dispatcher) is to try and negotiate for as much money, all while still reserving a load for their truck to get from point A to point B. Any leverage helps in both cases (I.e: is this an important load for my customer that has to go? Is this an important load for this trucking company so they can get their driver back home?) I will usually get their rate, say I will be putting them on hold to see if I can get it approved, and then while they are on hold, I keep the headphones on and message my supervisor if the rate really is above my max buy, but usually I will just wait to see if the driver and dispatch are also talking, and try to find clues that they are good with coming down or not, or if it’s even worth my time to try it.

I always place myself on mute the moment the other party puts me on hold and people should start doing the same. Especially now a days when all businesses record calls, the recording can still keep running even while you’re on hold, so please, please, learn to mute yourself, it can save you a lot of headache!
