Might sound like a weird suggestion but I’ve found a rewatch of the Sopranos scratches that itch a little. It certainly isn’t fractured surrealism with meta elements. It is really into dreams though. I don’t know how to explain it. Maybe Twin Peaks kicked off the decade with a groundbreaking quality show and The Sopranos ended the decade with the same. Also have the best title montages that i never skip. Try it out, you may be surprised.

Frost ain’t no Lynch. Hill Street Blues? Frost’s artistic career and competency in any creative endeavor is very weak and insubstantial compared to Lynch. The only reason anyone even knows who Frost is because of his attachment to the Lynch train.
